Thread: What does supression fire do?

I know its an area attack and it says its supposed to prevent movement against the attacker. But to my experience, it only did minimal damage and shakes the screen, prevents nothing.

Does anyone know what it does, or is supposed to do?

Supposed to be an Area Cone Snare.

It is an area cone snare, and it also has a very short cool down timer.

The situations I find it most effective:

Solo AOEing high end mobs- alternate it with full auto area for slow but effective killing.

Quick root- Sometimes figthing krayts and lvl 111s charge shot will fail and you need to put a little distance in between you and your target so spam this like 4 times in a row.

Emergency getaways- If I attract some unwanted attention, like a group of agro from a lair, I just run away spamming this until I get enough distance to get away.

I don't hunt jedi but I would imagine that you could use this if you get a runner. This stacks with cripple, so hit your cripple shot then spam this as much as you can, they won't go anywhere.

*one note though, sometimes, I don't know why, but it will appear to have no effect whatsoever. The effect is fairly small unless you spam it continuosly, but even still everynow and then it appears to be doing nothing.

If you try it out a couple times I think you'll find it to be useful. Just be careful because you may end up getting more agro on you than you intend since it is an aoe after all.

One of the best uses I have found is using it to get away from bad sitituations. Set Supression as your auto-attack and run and you can get away from anything not ranged. A good use of this is running the web-weaver path, just target each new spider as you're passing it and fire when it attacks you. Your auto-attack will keep it refiring and the whole time the distance between you and it keeps increasing. Also like to use it on high lvl creatures in group. I'll use supression on auto with a cripple thrown in as needed while the rest of the group hammers it with damage shots/states/etc. Did the Kartarn in the Ryyatt Trails with 3 MBH/MCarbs without any of us getting a scratch. I did supression/cripple to keep it slow, another did all states, the 3rd all damage shots. Worked great. Supression comes in very handy properly used.

I did exactly the same thing on the webweaver path.

its just a 2 sec snare, at adv is 90 degrees - the different levels affect how much of an area the shot affects.

just be glad they took off the 5 sec warmup for it

yeah, a 2 sec snare with a 5 sec warmup - i dont know how that made it out of testing...

its also nice to use as a combo with Full Auto Area or to spam with another player who is spamming full auto area, as you can get a very good snare dmg combo going
