This is not the disco song, this is a discussion on fighting Jedi's as a CM, and how I've been successful doing so.

Now when I speak of fighting Jedi, I don't speak of Padewans or Initiates...I speak of Knights. I also don't speak of dueling, but of larger scale PvP.

These are the thing that protect you and enable you the chance for success.

1.) Defense

- Have a melee profession mastered or nearly mastered. TKA/Fencer/Swordsman

- Food - Find a great chef with Ahrisa (focus) and Thaikato (sp?) defense vs. kd, I also use Air Cake

(dodge)on occasions

- Drink - ithorian mist (defense vs. dizzy) and of course Brandy

I usually drop the brandy earlier 4 mins. then add the ithorian mist. With a great chef, you can take two Ahrisa's and a Thaikato.

2.) Buffs

- Make sure your Master doc is using Janta powered buffs before battle.

- If you have a Master Entertainer, be sure to get all your mind buffs

- In the case you don't have a Master Entertainer, make sure you have Muon in your task bar

3.) Master Squad Leader

- If you've run into saberthrow before, you know what I'm talking about. If your food isn't doing the job, there's always the backup MSL. They can pull off the dizzy state on a macro immediately. (Since we are big targets in large scale PvP, the Jedi's tend to come after us first or second.) The largest percentage of my deaths have come from a dizzy/KD combo from Jedi's.

4.) Poison/Disease selection

- If you are the lone CM, pick one Knight, and hit them with a strong MP, immediately afterward, hit them with your strongest MAP. Diseases at this point are useless, 40 seconds, and you're probably dead.

- If you have a group of CM's. Quickly discuss who has the best stuff. We usually have someone that has the best poisons and another that has the best diseases. There is no use to have people throwing stuff that gets overidden. The rest of the CM's that don't have powerful poisons/diseases act as support with AOE ranged heals. If one of the two go down, you back them up with the next best poisons/diseases.

5.) Armor selection

- We all know that none of the current composite armor has LS resists, but in a larger scale battle, you are susceptable to more than just jedi.

- If you don't have a composite helm with over 35% stun resists, get one. (I've died to strafeshot a couple times in battle, do to kiting from Master Rifleman)

- It's not necessary to wear a full suit of comp. check the armorsmith boards, or talk to an armorsmith on your options on this.

- Never run around overt without some form of armor on! (Unless you are in a city that has no base)

If you can follow just a couple of these simple rules, you will live a lot longer than anyone else that is not a Jedi, and you know the longer you live, the better the chance you have fora DB.

- Zanthos

"And I looked, and behold a pale Spat: and his name that sat on him was Zanthos, and HELL followed with him. And power was given unto the Burninators over the fourth part of the galaxy, to kill with Burnination, and with hunger, and with death, and DLTDHYITAOTWO."

Nice post, just to add...get spider venom poison sets. The stronger, the better, if you don't have a poison that can do 800+ points per tick, get one, camp the fire spider, whatever it takes. Also, get some nice backup poisons with high potency to have a chance against resist buffs.

Good evening Carbineers. I was going to go smuggler/pistols but I wanted to go for somthing that wont be overpopulated when the upgrade comes about. I've read through all the guides and especialy the one that talks about defense, though it didnt realy help me much. I know I'm new to carbines and will probably take some time to get used to, but I'm not getting worked over by dizzy, stun, and knockdown, I'm just getting killed by plain hits to the body.

I have the same armor and gear that worked quite well with pistols but with carbines and the serious lack of profession defense I just can't seem to hang. I could go for killing fast but ofcourse the specialty costs kill me faster then anything. So, I'm asking what most of you oldschool carbineers do to stay alive without all the greatest gear and buffs. Thank you much.

Official Carbineer motto: :"I bet i can kill me before you kill me" I just get buffs..and..buy the mediocre gear cause I'm poor

The hits you take from being a Pistoleer or Rifleman or Carbineer or for the most part any non-combat prof is the same damage. Lower defenses might mean you get hit a bit more often, but really the difference isn't noticeable.

99% of the time I go around unbuffed so I face most of the problems you mention but recently I graduated to using brandy and got my medic skills up to a stage where I can use stim C's. These days I can spam specials to take down mid level mobs and a few of the higher ones without too much trouble...

Gear wise, I have a couple of bits of comp armour and use standard Elite or if I'm sure I can take down stuff without it taking too long I'll use a standard Laser carb.

ahh took me two hours to log in while at work finally!! I am currently novice tk and Carbine 3432 and I love going out with a buff and brandy when anything gets low I just pop off the ol' helmet and meditate. while I am gonna have to give up the tk novice for some more carbine xp I do it gladly I'll hopefully take more medic up to take care of this problem however.

if your really not that rich and can't buy the cas needed to capbut want toget much stronger in carbines then I would suggest going bounty hunter, much more speed and accuracy and then if you don't want to go jedi hunting maybe go up the meditation tree in tka or percision striking if you want to stay tka but otherwise go pistols if you want much more def combined with carbines.
