my nyms slugthrower is dps 320, plus 144 elemental damage, is the elemental dammage added on to the normal dammage so it is like 464 total dps? if not what is elemental dammage and how does it work?

elemental damage DOES work.. and the damage stat is allready incorporated into the base "dps" of the weapon... from experimenting on weapons i have built though it doesnt raise dps as much as experimentation on standard damage.. however vs targets that are weak to it it does do alot more damage that you would expect.. however atm we cant "examine" creatures to tell thier weakness.

this is another reason why base dps is not a pure guide to weapon quality

Without elemental damage, you have 3 experimentation lines, so a 12pt Weaponsmith could drop 4 points for a flat spread. With elemental damage, it's down to 3 points for each of the 4 lines, which in the end gives an inferior weapon.

The vulnerabilities really have to matter a lot to offset this disadvantage...

doesnt work that way...

yes there are 4 lines to experiment but i dont ever do a "flat spread"

infact compared weapon level for weapon level the elemental damage weapons are higher dps...

usual experiment is a full 9pts on regular damage and then 3 on speed - for both normalk and elemental damage - the elemental ones have the elemental damaage as a bonous NOT as a hinderence.. i would allways take an elemental level 50 weapon over a stock level 50 as it will do more damage - and will do alot more damage vs some targets - its just a matter of finding a targets weakness.

Flat spread was just to make it simple. And i admit, i can only look at theoretical numbers, an experienced WS like you can surely correct me on the issue... there's probably more variables in there than i know of.
