Thread: DH-17 Carb A Post-Patch Report on HAM use
I have been using two very Low HAM DH-17s,
That were made by BlackLotus of Theed, Nabu. I will post his shop's Cords after work today. -- Just past the long, covered bridge.

My Secondary skills are modest, all are below 300, except for Umm, the one below focus, which is 900 :-)
At this time, and with this weapon, my HAM costs are below, yes
BELOW Pre-Patch costs.
My pre-patch cost for FireKnockDown was 138. FullAutoArea1 was ... 166!
How is the damage?
It's not bad. Much lower than what some normally see, but, Despite the seemingly low damage numbers shown on hte weapon I have been averaging about 200 a hit, with suprising little variance.
In other words,
it is hiting for greater than my 146 EE3
It REPORTS better hits than my 160 something Laser Carb, but, as it has no armor piercing at all, what is reported is what is actually being applied to the target, where with the Laser Carb we are often doing far greater damage than is reported on the chat screen -- against Most targets, that is.
Post Knockdown nerf I was in desperate need of a fix.
Despite two 1500 Tat Sunburns in my system I was finding myself unable to take out three even con range wielding NPCs.
It wasn't the Health, or the Action which was killing me,
it was the enormous depletion of mind.
Even with Three mind foods -- each giving me aprox. 80+ to each mind stat, to make up for the Tat Sunburn, I was losing Mind at a horendous rate... Without ever being hit from the NPCs. I was having to kite -- for the first time ever.
How did the DH-17's affect my Post-Patch game?
The most immediate, and obvious, effect I noticed with the DH-17 was that my Mind Pool hardly moved at all,
Even with a -187 Focus from Two Tatooine Sunburns, there still was extremely little Mind Pool Depletion,
easily taken care of by a 900 value Mind Regen Stat (what eer that stat's name...)
Though initialy cautious and disapointed by the low damage numbers shown on the weapon I was quickly won over by it's performance.
This weapon was allowing me to once again take on groups of Range wielders as well as meleers without needing to kite.
I was once again able to string together powerful Special Combos and was able to stand my ground with little fear of dying,
provided I had over 10 charges of a Stim Pack C -- 558 on my toolbar.
Conclusion:
I am not saying this weapon is everyone's answer.
It certainly is not what some are used to in terms of damage.
For me it has been an answer.
I have been using a DH-17 exclussively for some days now.
Be it in Duels,
PvP,
or in Single and Multiple MoB Hunting
This weapon has provided me with the means to get back, almost, to where I was pre-patch.

I'm guessing this is a regular DH-17, which I've never used... I use the DH-17 Snubnose and saw the following form guns made by Mungo on Radiant Server:
Pre-patch Snub Nose

Post-patch Snub Nose
Dmg 67-158
Spd 2.6
Wound 14.4%
HAM 23/22/11
Much better HAM costs after the patch... I usually use my Laser Carbine for pulling then switch to my SnubNose and stay 20m away for max damage...
I too have switched to DH 17, I do not use a snubnose because I haven't seen anything from that category that I like better than my regular DH 17.
Post patch ( I dont have exact stats because I am at work)
Damage 55-145 (not exact but very close.)
Speed 2.0 (was sliced down from 2.7)
Wound 11%
HAM 19/20/12 (only one I am sure of exactly is the 19. As a Rodian Scout, I pretty much ignore Action costs. Why there are so few Rodian entertainers, boggles me.)
As a CH/Carbineer I am using Action Shot 2, Leg Shot 2 and Burst shot 1 and I am hardly touched by melee opponents, and still kick out enough damage against ranged that I can kite them pretty effectively. I had a great E11 and a good Elite carbine and I don't use them anymore. Even though they are AR1 vs the AR0, the E11 and Elite DPS is far inferior, before you even factor in HAM costs. It might be possible to get an E11 that beats it but I have yet to see one that I would use over my DH 17 (regular).
