I have a laser carbine which is my default weapon.

For the last few days I've been hunting rock beetles for their babies to supply my guild. But I noticed something odd about my laser hitting these beetles.

For one, the damage scrolling on top of the creatures is less than what is showing on my combat tab. What is wrong with this picture?

A rock beetle is AR1 with some resist to energy. I would think that the damage scrolled on the creature would be more since I have an AR2 weapon. Am I correct?

Any info is appreciated.

Remember an AR2 weapon on an Ar1 mob will do 25% extra damage.

If the target is AR1 with 25% energy resist...it is essentially even and thus AR2.

Once you hit AR1 with more than 25% energy resist, you are doing less than normal damage. Look at the vulnerabilities and try a weapon of that type.

Actually, since the resistance percentage is applied after calculating AR, it only takes 20% energy to bring a laser's actual below the listed. (80% of 125% is 100%)

Resistances are powerful things -- 20% may look like a modest resistance, but it's equivalent to a full AR in cases like those.
