Thread: The reason Carbineers (and Riflemen) are having problems hitting now
The reason we're all having problems hitting thing snow (and Riflemen as well) is the same reason people slide when sitting or kneeling, and the same reason that we jump back when burst running through rivers.
The first 2-3 shots of the Carbine, due to it's speed, are taken on the run, even if you've knelt. When you stop, the server is still predicting your client as running, and doesn't get the movement packets for another few transfers. This causes your character on your side to move to the position the server thinks you are, as opposed to the position that you think you are on the client side.
The sitting/kneeling packet is sent on a different line, along with all the other server commands, separate from your current X, Y movement coordinates. So that packet still shows you as sitting down, when the server shows you're supposed to be in a different positon due to it's client prediction, and places you there, still sitting. Want to test the whole movement timer thing? There is a pretty easy way to do so.
Go grab a deed off the bazaar, and run over 1024m from town. Try placing the deed right away once you've stopped.. You won't be able to, and the server will tell you that you can't place in your current state, IE, moving. Once you wait for around4-5 seconds, you'll be able to place your deed just fine, since the server now considers you standing still.
Try setting up your shots with the Carbines and rifles next time, wait about 5 seconds before you fire the first shot on your enemy and you'll notice that your first couple of shots have become much more accurate. I know this isn't a great solution, but it is a valid workaround for conditions in which you will definitely have the drop on your enemy.
that's just about the most retarded thing i've heard (not you, but the whole 'predicting movement' thing). sadly, i can believe it. you can just pick up novice entertainer (if you have the skill points) and try to dance just after moving. uh uh! you're running! wtg devs! woot woot! same with foraging, now that i think about it. and yeah, placing deeds to harvesters.
thanks for the work-around. it'll be useful if i ever pull the trigger on my carbine again.
