Thread: Love Carbines...Dropped BH...firing at a snail's pace.
i have always been a huge fan of the Carbineer tree, carbines as a weapon, and the idea of running around in full composite with the title "Marauder" flying over my head.
so, i finally caved in to my desires, and went from BH to Carbineer...problem is, i'm 1 3 2 2 so far (had lots of xps banked), and i think that between crippling shots, my daughter went from being 2 1/2 to getting her master's degree.
now...i know that part of this is because i've only got one box of the speed line, but i'm looking at this and realizing i'm going to be +130/+60...and it seems to me that a Master Carbineer should be at least +80 speed. (w/o Master Marksman).
in all honesty, that's my *only* complaint about Carbineer...
Master Carbineer, here i come!
Until you Master, stay away from cripple - it has a huge delay modifier.
Switch to a faster shot such as burstshot1 or scattershot1/2.
It really is a night and day difference.
Carbineer/BH can use damage-sliced carbines and fire at the speed cap using even the slowest specials (which are the highest damaging ones).
Carbineers without BH have to use speed sliced carbines and still rarely are able to hit the speed cap with the faster-firing, medium damage specials.
The issue of course is how fast the guns get at high speeds. +50 speed = 1/2 the firing time. +75 = 1/4th and +85 is almost 1/8th. A master carbineer gets +60. People look at BH or pistoleer and say +60 isn't that much slower than +75 or +85. However, convert the numbers to what they actually do to your speed and there is a huge difference! For example, +85 practically DOUBLES the damage per second the user gets over +75 (I say practically because it really doubles at 87.5).
im 3444 BH and 0304 carbinier. im firing crippleshots about every 2 seconds(laser carbine 3.9 speed). ive already decided that once i master BH ill drop all of it except for the carbine tree then master carbinier. right now, im a PvE machine. ive soloed 2 krayts and a giant kimogila. there isnt a mob in the game that i cant solo if its one on one. for some reason its actually easier to solo these big mobs than it is to operate in a diad or triad.
anyways... is there a formula to determine the overall speed of your weapon when firing specials?
i know the delay mod for cripple shot is 4.
my weapon speed is 3.9
my carbine speed bonus is 80ish
im wondering how in the world 3.9 becomes 2 with a 4.0 delay mod....
thanks in advance if any1 could answer this for me
Basically, your speed modifier is 1 - speed mod/100. If you are +80...then your mod is 0.2.
So, 3.9 x 4 x 0.2 = 3.12
I actually believe your mod is +85 so you would fire cripple at 2.34.
See what a difference +5 speed makes?
To the person that said they were fast and powerful w/o being BH but did not post stats. Lets do some math for you to see how powerful you are.
A master carbineer is +60 speed which you were not so you were even slower. Cripple is 4.0 speed. To hit the 1 second speed cap, you need a carbine with a reload of 0.63 seconds....I doubt it. Matter of fact, I'll post those speed you will fire cripple at, as a master carbineer with +60 at various carbine reloads.
1.0 reload = 1.6 second firing rate
2.0 reload = 3.2 second firing rate
2.5 reload = 4 second firing rate (getting pretty slow now...)
3.0 reload = 4.8 second firing rate
3.5 reload = 5.6 second firing rate (ouch...this is the average speed I see laser carbines at)
4.0 reload = 6.4 reload firing (take a nap between shots)

What happens if speed is greater than +100?
Nothing you can do, no weapon you can use, will make you fire slower than the cap in that case. Which is pretty darn easy for BH dabblers (either way -- primarily BH withthe right Carbineerdabbling, or, morefrequently, master carbineer with dabbling in BH)to reach.
my template was BH Carb 4, 0 3 4 0 Carbineer, 0 0 4 4 Medic...
might go back to it soon. committed to trying out Doctor/Carbineer. love Doctor...hope this works out.
Carbineer could *seriously* use another +20 speed mods...pistoleers get more speed and have faster weapons...which do similar dmg...how does that work?

I did not say I was fast and powerful, I said my laser rifle was both. It is 2.3 speed and 41-368 damage (no power up, yes sliced). When I'm hitting shots for over 2k every 3 seconds, I'm not complaining. Granted, I don't always get back to back 2500's or anything.. there are the 400 damage shots that get thrown in there, but the shot is powerful and worth the delay.
I guess because I've played other professions that don't do this type of damage and other professions that have ludicrous wait times, 3 seconds I can deal with.
Novamarine,- exactly. Nice post.
Anyone on Tarquinas servergot coords to a merchant sellinga non-krayt laser carb with base damage 300+ unsliced or with a speed under 3.6 unsliced?
