Thread: Slug-Thrower Carbine
I'm looking for any info on this gun given from Nym's new quest series. Does anyone have the stats and what skill must have to be certified. I want to quest for this but if I can't use the gun its pointless?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

AP: Light

Okay, someone please tell me what your server has in the way of unsliced DXR6's. The best on Ahazi are around 170-175 max @ 3.8s. The slugthower is clearly better than that, so I'm wondering why everyone here *icks* over its stats compared to the DXR6.
I even went so far as to pull up the resources on swgcraft.com, Ahazi's resources look on par with other servers. Again, what stats are your servers WS's getting on unsliced DXR6's?
The only thing to ick at really is the ham cost (36/62/36). I never use this thing without ryshtaeor boh.

typical hunting group starts to gather... 5 to7 people... while we are waiting.... i will go afk for a few min to go take a bio break... get a fresh soda.... i get back and a little while laterthe group roll's out.

The one disadvantage I see is that with the slug thrower you cannot get a custom made weapon. For example a DXR6 with a stock. The HAM on my Stock enhanced DXR6 is only a little higher than the slug thrower but does better damage. Cannot remember the exact HAM but base stats are around
134-216 Damage
4.1 Speed
This is with a .3 spd +35 min/max stock added. The really nice part is the min damage increase of 35 points. Does a lot to reduce the spread for mitigation. Even with the higher HAM costs I do not find I need anything more than some nice tat sunburn and occasionally a mind reduction powerup, although with my stat re-org I can ignore the mind powerup as well.
As far as the speed, either get a speed slice and add a damage powerup, or get a damage slice and use a speed powerup. That with +60 for master carbine makes for a fast weapon once all is said and done.
Oh and just as a note, modified for damage mitigation 3.
Slug Thrower Damage 103-149 avg 126
217-103 = 114 * 0.60 = 68.4
217-68.4 = 148.6
(103+149)/2 = 126
DXR6 With Stock 134-167 avg 150
216-134 = 82 * 0.60 = 49.2
216-49.2 = 166.8
(167+134)/2 = 150
Also I could be wrong, but a base DXR6 should have better accuracy mods than the slug thrower as well.
So yes in some ways the slug thrower is a good weapon, but it is relatively inflexible. If you really wanted you could also put krayt tissues in the DXR6 (expensive at 6/gun+1/schematic), you simply cannot do that with a slug thrower.
Oh, btw... something else to think about. I can't remember the last time I saw platinite copper on my server. DXR6 carbines are rather hard to come by, especially good quality ones. And to compete with a slug thrower, you'd have to have a good quality one.
So slug throwers are one of the better weapons out there. Maybe not the best, but the best isn't always available, and these are ![]()
