I really want to get intohunting high-end game, i.e. krayts, gdk's, peko-albatrosses but I'm really unsure about just how to do it.

My template is MCarb/MRanger and I use a barely decent lvl-54 carbine (around 330 base dps). I have an alt (TKM, Swords) that can tank for me, but I'm not sure if he should.

The thing is that I know some of you guys use a kiting strategy, but I don't know whether I can do that with just the specials from carabineer or if I need to take up bh instead of ranger - which specials do you guys use?

Regarding my alt, I was considering setting him on /follow and /burstrun and then simply kite the critter, whilehe follows it and hacks a little on it - but should I or would this maybe hinder me more than it would do good?

I could use a little help with this, as I'm about fed up with failing to get a group together for the hunts

You are ranger, you have very good terrain negotiation, your build is lv. 80, i assume, i see no reason why you'd be unable to pull the stunt. The DPS on your weapon tells little, it can be an awesome gun or pure junk, max. damage and SAC would be more informative. (Especially on the suggested targets, which have a lot of health... SAC mattersa lot on them.)

As long as you can handle the action costs (i advise accaragm as drink, gives nice action regen, other people have other preferences...) the thing is easily done. Snare, an occasional knockdown, you should be fine. (There's a nice guide on how to do that around... so no need that i describe it all in detail.)

And as a final word, leave your alt away, would create more trouble than it helps. Use your range and mobility and wear the beasts down, as long as you're taking a bit of attention where to run to, you really should have no problems.

Master Carbs will be no problem for soloing high end content. I easily did PPA's, Gorax and GDK's when I was MC/MCH (didn't try Krayts due to dialup lag on tatooine). Kiting works fine, you have the best snare in the game with crippling shot. It takes a few goes to get your timers right, but if you try out on some CL80 mobs you'll get the hang of it quickly. Then move up, the only difference between that CL81 Sharnaff and a Gorax is the extra 30k of HAM and the slightly less damage you will be doing.

I'm confident I could solo Necrosis without too much trouble, if any, two of us (ranged) did it without breaking a sweat, so he's just like a high HAM Krayt. I do reccomend you use a low SAC carbine with a SAC Pup on it, to blast away for a while you need to be able to constantly fire off specials, and if you have no action, you have only ranged shot which will stop the health regen but little else.

Using only carbine specials and carbine stats (MCH didn't give me any ranged bonuses) I was taking down GDK's in 3 minutes, you shouldn't find it any trickier than I did then.

Hmm... you had that much space to move around there? As soon as something is indoors, you usually don't have the necessary space to go for mobile combat and rather should have a tank along.

There's plenty of room to maneuver when he's hobbling around Handy thing is you don't need to worry about him retreating either. When two of us (both ranged, one pistol and myself on carbs) did it I think I was the only one hit, and only because I stopped paying attention for a bit and was typing in. So long as you stay more than 15m away you won't get hit.
