Well, with the double XP week in progress, and my previous experience with hunting groups, I decided to get the group together again to go hunting on Endor.
I had previously been training in the two pistol trees, saving my master profession, carbineer, for last.
All I had, was novice carbineer, and a group of 7 other people. A doctor, a jedi, two melee, three ranged, and myself.
We were very specific and organized, and we had hunted together before, so the teamwork was there. With an inspiration buff, we all headed out. I quickly learned that I was gaining about 13k - 15k XP per kill. Each kill lasting no more than two rounds of attacks.
It was no suprise, then, to see that I was making nearly a million XP in a little under an hour. After capping out about three of four times, I trained and obtained master carbineer.
I just thought this was very interesting, considering some of the other posts I've seen around the boards with "Not getting any XP."
And this brings up another point: I thought 'quick masteries' were going away? Now, understandable that this was double XP week. So, does that mean it would have taken me two days to master carbines, rather than one on a regular day?
What are your thoughts on this?

Sounds about right....99% of the complaints I have heard here and in-game about not getting XP is people trying to play in the old system, solo.

I'm doing it solo (although I already have master pistoleer) and getting about 8500-9000k per kill at CL 59 with the dancer buff (10%) and food/drink action regen buffs. This against melee creatures and their lairs (pulling missions). It isn't terribly difficult to get exp solo, and I'm not relying on root 100% either, I use it about every other kill or less, as knockdown/snare along with legshot/rapid fire and occasionally mixing in the attack that makes them skip a round is just as effective as rooting and blasting. I figure root will get nerfed anyway, so better to not rely on it.
I did try grouping, it's a lot more fun, just need the time to do it. I usually hop on for short sessions so just pulling a couple missions is all I have time for.

Thedancer/musician buff is actually broken and you may actually be receiving the same or less XP with it. Your combat log may be indicating that you are receiving a bonus but if you actually look at your XP before an after you will find that it doesn't jive with the combat log. You can find a discussion about it here.

I headed on out to Dantooine last night and joined up with an eight strong group with a couple of level 80's in there. I'm a Novice Carbineer and Novice Bounty Hunter. I managed to get about 225000 Carbine XP in about an hour. I was well chuffed!!!
Guess what I'll be doing tonight???
Cheers,
Dan

I guess I cannot really complain at all, since I was a master carbineer months before CU anyways... I don't even get carbine or combat xp anymore...
But since I have one more box to finish up for combat medic in order to finally master it, my carbine skills have come in handy as always.
I think I am one of the few people I know who opted NOT to respec my toon.
The combo I have seems to work fine.
Right now my biggest thing is getting fp... I am finding that I am finishing up the ranking system (Lt. Colonel now), rebuying my three stormies for that glorious day SOMEDAY when the devs wake up and give me my three stormies back... and buying bases for our Imperial Garrison.
I almost kinda wish I could have grinded up carbineer this week... who am I kidding LOL... It took me forever to do it the first time.
I am MASTER and loving it! HA HAH

Getting XP in the CU is really easy as long as you understand how to play in the CU. However I bet that if you tried the old way and ran missions out of MO and spammed your best attack while solo, I bet it will take you a very very long time to get master.

Try 6 months lol...
That's how long it took me, but then I am not a round the clock player (except on weekends), and I also divide my time grinding, roleplaying, and flying... as well as running a guild.
