Yeah, coming from an ex-Commando.
I have been playing around with some templates. Personally,I would love to have a part-time solo'er and part-time grouping Carbineer.
My template isas follows: Master Carineer/Master Pistoleer/BH 0/4/40
This way I can get both of the BH's great specials for pistols and carbines... or is that too much and I should do Master Carbineer-Combat Medic 4/4/0/4-Bounty Hunter 0/4/0/0
Now for my solo'ing part, I hear alot of people are putting points into Doc 4/0/0/0 or Combat Medic 4/0/0/0 or going Master Smuggler.
Considering this info, what are some of the templates people are using here that fit a "One or twohours before bed solo time" and a "I have all weekend for groups" type of person, and why the template is good for your play style (still trying to find my own post-CU).
Also, it has been awhile since I played and I don't remember the terms "SAC" and "KD"..... I have no idea what they mean

My solo template is Master BH / Master Carbineer / Novice CM 4000
SAC stands for scrotum Special Attack Cost and KD stands for kraft dinner KnockDown.

Same here.
Master Bounty Hunter
Master Carbineer
Combat medic 4 0 0 0
Enhanced Reflexes 0 3 0 0
Good offense, good defense, decent crowd control, very nice healing for both solo healing and group medic support. Cool weapons, you name it, this is a fun template. I will say that I'm not a good PvP'er.....not due to my template, but I'm just not that skilled, so I'm not sure how good this is for PvP, but I do have lots of fun and no real complaints with this build.

Ya, I decided to add a bit of defense with my last three skill points. In all honesty, +15 melee def. probably doesn't matter..but it surely can't hurt. ![]()

I have the same template Sam minus the FS skills, I just dumped 2 points into medic 0/4/1/0 for the extra points in healing (same reason it may not help much, but it can't hurt)

Yesterday I respeced out of my MBH, Master Carbs, Rifleman 4xx4 template into Master Carbs, Master Smuggler, Master Marksman, Rifles 3xxx.
It's just beautiful.
40 second root(may be fixed, but even if it's made into a Mez it will still kick arse), Legshot and Headshot for damage. Defense reducing attacks, speed delays from Smuggler and area attacking goodness from Carbineer. I also have almost exactly the same amount of general mods and defenses as I did in my previous template, just without Duelist Stance(which I always forgot to use and was semi-broken anyway).
I found I was just using MBH for Adv. Critical, as I got sick of hunting Jedi after a week of house-sitting and Master Defender/Healer 4xxx marks, Charge Shot makes Underhand Shot redundant and none of the state-inflicting specials seem to work very often(+Resisted+, +Resisted+, +Resisted+....sod this, /respec).
If I ever manage to loot some attachments, it will be even better, but right now I can solo just about anything that doesnt just out-regen my attacks in PvE, plus it's a very strong group-PvE template with all the debuffs and croud control to help out your group members.

Yeah, I hear alot of solo templates use smuggler. I figured I would see more combat medic templates.
What is it that makes a smuggler so good used with the carbineer? I was looking at their tree, their spices seem good. Is it their Low Blow and Panic Shot that makes using a Smuggle template worth it?
Another question.... moves like Panic Shot and Low Blow, do they work with Carbines or just for Pistols?

Improved Head Shot is a good, reliable, damage dealing special. Attainable in the first tree of Rifleman, it's just as effective in its role as Improved Leg Shot.

Smuggler is seen combined more than Combat Medics because, although the healing, toxins and limited Crowd Control you get from CM is nice, Smuggler gives the general ranged speed/accuracy mods, on which your damage as a ranged profession is directly dependant(remember, these days accuracy affects the damage you do as well as how often you hit). Plus its gives you specials which can be applied from a greater range than CM, and something interesting to do if you get bored of combat in slicing/spice crafting(when they are fixed, that is, next two publishes max according to devs at fanfest).
EDIT: Oh aye, Headshot is quite tasty. It doesnt have quite as high a damage mod as Legshot, but against most opponants Im only noticing a difference of 30-70 points of damage bwteen them, whereas using Advanced Rapid Fire from Carbineer has about 2-300 less and Reckless Shot from Smuggler about 150 less and a huge defensive penalty. In a non-BH template, Legshot and Headshot are the best combo of damage-dealing specials Ive found.
