Pauses the movement of the target ( cone effect if I remember correctly, so be carful ) for a brief few seconds. I use it in conjunction with snare if a target gets to close to me. Snare + Suppression fire makes some decent distance in a short period of time. Also used it to escape ... especiall from Caves that respawned behind me ... burst run + Suppression fire keeps them away.

Hope that helps!

Supression fire is spammable, so you can keep a group totally snared as long as you have action. Downside is it doesn't give you time to use damage specials.

It does NOT pause the movement.....it is a SNARE so using Crippling Shot with Suppression Fire shouldn't give any benefit but....well ya never know with SOE programmers

Suppression Fire is a very unique 'save your arse' Special that will slow an entire mob in the cone down while they chase you, not your group but just you. Or you can SNARE a whole group in the cone for your group members to kill if you have the hate/aggro. As Ben said, it must be spammed (designed that way by the Devs) to hold the SNARE.

I've found this too be very useful. It is only a very short snare but will help put distance between you and your target. Not as much of a kiting tool its purpose is more of a get my butt out of here fast.

Using crippling shots snare will override suppression fires snare. Same deal if you use suppression fire ontop of a target that has a crippling shot snare so make sure to not waste a good snare.

You can kite by alternating improved legshot with advanced suppression fire. The only time I usually do that is if I get two mobs chasing me and I want to kill one before the other hits its retreat range.

So if you are going to use it, my advice it to alternate it with another special like imp legshot, or if in a support role or PvP where you already have multiple creatures in your face, Improved full auto area can be added to the mix. Naturally, don't do this if you have a chance of striking creatures near by that are not, or have not aggroed.

If you have some Commando you can always AoE KD with imp charge shot. I tried that on test. It was good for a laugh.
