Thread: Are you using armor for faction NPC missions?

My new composite armor (head/chest/legs) lasted just about 6 days of NPC missions. I cannot afford getting one for 500k every week. Do you guys run faction misions wearing yours?

Given the CL's of NPC missions, you won't need to use armor at all. Most of them will go down in 1-4 shots, depending on their level.

I am doing 9k+ Imperial missions where most NPC's are 80-82 CL, so it takes a while to take them down.

Hmm, try dying less, getting incapped less or something.

I just finally bothered ditching the suit of composite that I had been doing everything in since the CU. Pretty much 3-4 weeks straight of running missions, going from cl43 to cl80/totally maxxed combat template and making thousands of faction points+hundreds of thousands of credits off the missions. That first suit was nothing special, but even after all that fighting I had only repaired the helm/legs - rest still had 8-10k condition left out of its original 30k.

(MIght be your server too - pretty much the best suits of composite I have seen being sold have only gone for 350/400k. The lower end ones sell for 100-200k.)

Oh! My apologies, I misread the tagline. If they are pumping out 80-82's, I would definitely wear armor, and probably a PSG to boot, just to be on the safe side.

I always wear my "modified" faction suit. One, I am always the first to rush in, controlling my group greatly (and I am the Master SL) so I generally do take all of the damage as I generally have no melee with me (as I have like 3 in my entire guild) and that is mainly because my default attack is leg shot and I generally out damage most. I used to wear full ST armor, and it didnt decay to much. But now I wear full padded, with ST gloves, boots, bracers; a scout trooper belt; and a shock trooper helm. (I love my distinctive look) I have had to repair my legs and chest once. My chest was at 20k of 40k condition and my legs were at 10k of 40k. This is about 2-3 weeks of heavy combat. My faction armor would last just as long. So I see no reason to not wear faction armor. If you watch the condition, and repair when it gets low, your armor will last you a long long time. And besides, if your gonna pay 2.5 million (on sunrunner) for a full set of Imperial armor, wear the blasted armor.

Maybe it's just me, but I never use armor for regular PvE such as faction missions. Even for missions that spawn a dozen CL 80 enemies, as long as the group plays it smart and you have healers helping out, you shouldn't need it. That's been my experience, anyway.
