Thread: What type of composite armor should a carbineer wear?

Now after the devs finally fixed composite armor and allowed armorsmith to fully experiment on all the components, they are coming out with some really good armor now. However I was just curious on what you all think a carbineer should prefer getting, either armor with lower resist and really low encumb or armor with high resist and just attempt to get the encumb sliced down. I'm personally having trouble deciding for myselfespecially because I know how harsh our specials are to our HAM so I'm having a hard time to make up my mind. Now of course I would normally only being using the armor during PvP.

I used to be one of these no armor people too. Encumbrance is too high, doesn't really offer protection, your reason here... I stopped using armor a while ago, after the first sets of chitin were being made, and I had a pile of credits sitting around, so I thought, why not give armor a shot again. Unfortunately I bought the day before the patch came out, but even still, I would never give up my composite suit. It keeps me alive longer than I could have ever lived without it.

I'll share a little story which helped me see the value of good armor. The other day I was running to the rebel base on corellia to do some missions. A friend logged on and wanted to get together on naboo. What's the fastest way to get back from the base? Find and attack some flail npcs and they'll send you to the cloning center in no time. I generally avoided these guys like the plague. Two of them together would generally kill me pre-armor (if I didn't have my pets out). So, I put my pets away and proceed over toa group of 6 flail bosses, thugs, whatever. I figure, let me try and fight them... it will be fun to at least take one with me. There I stood getting shot with 6 blasters at a time. Fortunately I have fullAutoArea and it actually does do multiple attacks like it should, so each round I am shooting them all. In the end I stood with 1/2 my mind left and full health/action bars (I have first aid 4 and use stims with 360 power). All 6 flails were dead. The only difference between then and now was the armor.

I haven't used armor since someone gave me a a set of bone back in July. I have tweaked my tactics and picked up CH so that on a normal destroy mission, I never get touched. When I do get targeted I sometimes do die though. Right now armor isa little to expensive for me to buy and test out. So I will be running around in my gunman's Duster and swoop helmet for at least a little while longer.

I have a macro now for armor/ clothes switching that does it instantly. Can you imagine how nice it is to wander the countryside in your regular outfit then instantly switch into all of your armor the second you hear music (or sneak up on some beastie)? This has saved me countless times over the past two days, and as a Master Medic my skills can finally work well (adequate)with armor and a laser carbine. Not to mention, it impresses the ladies.../tell detchi in game for the macro syntax, you'll thank me for it!

The removal of CH and the NGE in general is the dumbest thing a company has ever done. period.
CH deserves to stay, and SOE deserves to be *#&$^#*@ until they are #*&$& and then *#&$ some more!
LONG LIVE THE CREATURE HANDLERS!!!
