Thread: A better fix for carbines..
Carbine weapon speeds ought to be swapped with pistols. Why? Simple:
CARBINES ARE AUTOMATIC WEAPONS! THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO FIRE LIGHTNING FAST!
doing this would solve most of the problems with HAM costs and such.. after all, if you were able to fire twice as fast as you can now, you wouldn't need to use specials so much.
of course the busted specials would still need fixing, and the elite carbine could use some better stats
other than that i am happy =p
What makes a carbine a carbine, a rifle a rifle and a pistol a pistol has really nothing to do with ammo or speed of fire. AFAIK it has to do with the overall size of the weapon.
A pistol being the smallest thus most flexible as it can be conceled but with the least accuracy over range.
A carbine being larger than a pistol possibly using pistol or rifle ammo with greater accuracy due to longer barrels, two handed firing etc, but not as accurate as a rifle
A rifle being the longest barreled version with the greatest accuracy but with the least flexibility and the most difficult to carry around due to size and weight. Pretty much impossible to conceal.
To be honest how they split weapons up in this game is part of the problem and it makes little sense compared to actual weapons.
Well you are both right and wrong; you are right in that the weapon types are generally defined by their size, and their relative flexabilities, the fact is most modern carbines (the m4 comes to mind) are automatic weapons, and automatic weapons empty their clips faster than semi-auto (generally speaking)
i understand that there doesn't need to be total realism in all aspects of the game, but to me, swapping the weapon fire speeds fixes the most problems with the least amount of work while adding some realism at the same time
but that's just me =p
