I have two carbines and I am having a trouble deciding which one to use. Here are stats

EE3:

Heat Damage

93 - 218

2.7 speed

3.0 radius

12.3% wound

-25 @ 0, +1 @ 27, -80 @ 64

40/33/18 ham

DH17 Snubnose:

Energy Damage

76 - 214

2.4 speed

15.1% wound

-25 @ 0, +2 @ 25, -80 @ 64

27/27/13 ham

Any advice would be appreciated. To me it feels the ee3 is better in pvp and dh17 is better in PvE for some reason.

Well, unless the mob is armored against energy and not heat, I'd definitely use the DH17 snub over the EE3. Lower HAMs are very nice, and the damage on your two are very similar. However, run into an AR2 heat-vulnerable thing, and pull out the EE3.

DH17 is better if there are no resistances.

The extra speed is nice (I perfer fast weapons to powerful ones most of the time, especially because the cap is at 1s AFTER ALL MATH, so if you have a .5s weapon and you have a special that doubles delay it becomes 1s).

Also the HAM is a biggie, especially with how much HAM carbines suck. Maybe that will be fixed someday, but until then you really need to find a weapon that doesn't suck 117 action every 3 seconds when you are throwing out big heavy specials at things.

You should hotkey both. Like they said, if you come up against a baddie that has heat vulnerability, pull out the EE3, otherwise stick with the DH17.

If you are going to climb the carbine tree, you really owe it to yourself to get one of each type of carbine. I have one of each and I find (with the exception of my "Elite") that each of them has a purpose.

If I'm on Endor, I usually will be using my laser to cut through all the ridiculous armor.

Against Baz Nitches, pull out the DXR6, they're vulnerable to Acid.

Against low level mobs on starter planets, or if I'm going to be doing a lot of crowd control, I use the DH17.

If I have to deal out a ton of damage in a hurry to a lightly armored MOB, the E11 is my man!

The EE3 does heat damage and the DXR6 does acid damage, so they are used for different situations. The rest of the carbines do energy damage.

Personally, I still use my laser carbine, but for high energy resist monsters, I use a DXR6

The only creature I've encountered that has resists against acid AND vulnerable to heat are the bolle bols on Naboo. Everything else, if they're vulnerable to heat then they are most likely vulnerable to acid as well. So, EE3s in general are very situational. DXR6s on the other hand could come in useful in several occasions sincea lot (if not most) of creatures has vulnerabilites to acid.

The EE3 does look cool though, like a short-barreled shotgun.

At the lower skill levels a good ee3 rocks. But once you get ahold of a good dxr6, there's very little reason to use the ee3. The dxr6 is armor piercing 1 and generally has better damage stats than the ee3. The ee3 is a little faster but doesn't have armor piercing.

Now if the radius damage on the ee3 actually worked, than i could see a few more situations where i "might" still use it. But as it is i use the dxr6 and a high-damage/high HAM laser for my two main guns. I use a elite if I want an energy attack without the high HAM costs. I use the ee3 or my dh17 for taking potshots at weak creatures/blowing up lairs so that I'm not wearing out my good guns or wasting powerups when i don't need to be.

But before i got my hands on a good dxr6, the ee3 was definitely my weapon of choice.
