Greetings Brothers of the Carbine,
After much agonising I am finally going to change my template (keeping Master Carbineer of course) and may have developed a mix that suits my style of play. I would really welcome any feedback from those who have used such a template or can perceive strengths or weaknesses with it. I am giving up my BH skills and so will experience a significant drop in speed until I can get my hands on some good SEAs and/or they fix the FS Ranged Speed tree.
There are a few points I'd like to explain about the template. Firstly, I feel the need for better defensive stats whilst retaining my medic abilities which makes it hard. Thus I couldnt take MC/Fencer/Pistoleer due to skill point restrictions. Secondly I have placed some faith in the fact that the FS skill trees may be fixed at some stage...sooner rather than later I hope. Lastly, bear in mind that some deficiencies I have accounted for by stocking up on foods such as Thakatillo.
So, to summarise I am giving up my Scout and BH abilities to pick up Pistol and Rifle whilst retaining MC and Medic. The profile will be MC / Medic 2/2/4/0 / Pistoleer 4/0/4/0 /Rifleman 0/0/4/0. The outcome for this unusual mixare the following mods:
Counterattack +105
Dodge +70
Block +60
Defense vs dizzy+60
Defense vs stun +60/+75 (got a nice undershirt with +15)
Defense vs blind+50
Defense vs knockdown +65
Defense vs posturechange +50
Defense vs intimidation +35
Ranged defense +62
FS Ranged defense +20
FS Melee defense+20
FS Ranged accuracy +12
FS Ranged speed +12
Carbine speed +65
Carbine accuracy +140
*Medic abilities to use Stim D's and E's with MU 40
Any feedback and comparison with other templates would be appreciated. I still have much to learn about changing templates so go easy...been the same template for almost 7 months now

Damn...just read the FAQ. Apparently 'Block' and 'Dodge' wont work whilst I'm packing a carbine (which largely blows my template out of the water) and any state defense under +80 will be largely ineffectual. On top of that I have read varying opinions on the issue of Ranged and Melee Defenses working to any significant degree.
Hmmm...back to the drawing board.

Just downloaded the Character Builder and will work something out I'm sure. Great device. I really should refer to the FAQ more often...especially when I am the only one in this forum for the last couple of hours.....lol.

okay Ive played carbineer with and without bh, if you dont have +25 speed and good krayt carbines your dps will drop bigtime, now if you want to go stacker, medic, carbineer you should go mfencer pistol defences medic 0/0/4/0 and ofcourse master carbineer

Yeah I know...thats cool. It was just funny that I started out asking for advice on quite a few issues that I didnt know a lot about and through the course of the night worked my way through all of them...talking to myself all the while lol.
Because I live in Thailand I understand that many things in this game including forums are not always geared towards people outside the USA (with regard to timezone). Thats why I generally spend most of my time hunting alone in-game and popping up on the forums during what most people would consider the middle of the night.
But I was serious about the FAQ section. Lots of great stuff in there and an invaluable resource for those of us who keep 'unusual hours'.
