Well with all my friends grinding through themeparks and needing help on certain things here and there I've been getting the badges so that I can go FS now if I want to... but as a Master Carbineer/BH I need to ask a serious question...

Is there even a point for meto go FS if I have no desire in ever leaving carbineer/bh?

I want to at least try some of these village challenges and have a goal ahead of me - but I know that combat prowess is bugged and does take up skill points, so I simply am wondering what your thoughts on this are. For those of you with no desire in abandoning a ranged proffession and taking up the life of a saber what would you suggest? And what FS skills will actually help a carbineer if any. I know that the ranged tree isn't working properly for the Combat Prowess - but when it is will it make a major difference in reality?

Any posts/feedback will be greatly accepted - this is a question I have been contemplating for some time now-

Nothing wrong with getting FS Ranged Accuracy, FS Melee Defense, and FS Ranged Defense.....anything more at the Village will just be quest items.

Healing is also great. Saves one second on stim time if you've got Novice Medic and gives slightly better Injury Treatment.

Really, 95% of templates out there can be boosted with good FS skills, and there's no reason to leave those SP go to waste.

Well with the huge reduction in heal times for Medics it seems to me the FS Healing isn't worth it.....guess I need to see some numbers but a box or two in Medic make for quick heals already.

If I got FS ranged accuracy, fs melee defense, and fs ranged support how mand sp does it take?

It's 1 SP per box, so 3 full trees would be 12 SP.

For Carbineer boosts, you'd want FS Melee Accuracy, as Ranged Accuracy is broken while the former actually work for all professions (except commando.)

Really, the only trees currently worth taking are FS Ranged Defense, FS Melee Defense, FS Melee Speed, FS Melee Accuracy, Healing and possibly Survival. Luck is reputed to help with looting, but it hasn't been confirmed.

As far as healing goes, it adds +10 Injury Treatment speed which converts to 1 second saved on every stim used. Thus, a Carbineer who dabbles in Novice Medic (or some medic) can benefit if they have free skillpoints, as every second saved is a second gained in combat.

Very true. Injury treatment speed only counts in intervals of 10, ie, 10 = 1 second saved, 15 = 1, 20 = 2, but an additional +5 to Injury treatment may help, though perhaps not that much. FirstAid is good though.

Really the reason why I was suggesting Healing is for those who have a lot of SP left or who are looking to unlock. In my case, the Healing branch was indeed easily grinded with rez/DB macros and contributed to 1 of the 6 required branches.

The best FS skills for a Carbineer are definitely Ranged Speed, Ranged Accuracy, Ranged Defense and Melee Defense with back ups in Healing and one other branch. Speed and Accuracy are apparently broken so people are taking Melee Accuracy and Melee Speed instead as they do contribute to your carbine abilities. The only problem I can see with this is that if this is ever fixed, you must be prepared to grind out another 2 trees...not fun. I have faith that it will be fixed eventually so I keep grinding Speed and Accuracy whilst waiting for it to be corrected.

Yeah

We haven't had it easy, heh. With a mostly-broken profession that was finally fixed months later though still suffering from damage problems, being unable to speedcap easily, even with +25 in speed SEAs, having to rely on templates to compete in PvP, and now having to rely on potentially wasting grinding time should the Ranged FS lines ever get fixed..

.. well, it's kinda crazy when you think about it. Devs need to cut us some slack!
