Thread: We are screwed! Check ham changes on TC
Carb is now a dead class.
The new ham changes lower the maximuns of your HAM when you use specials.
ie: Action 1000/1000
Example using Special 1at a cost of 100 action per use
Action 900/900
Action 800/800
Action 700/700
Action 600/600
Action 500/500
You cannot heal using stims because you technically have no damage.
This is insaine! Unless we get our specials seriously lowered in HAM costs we cannot survive this change without serious buffs.
Oh also our maximun HAM does regenerate at around 10 ham per second , but still is in no way going to counter our special use.
Zippie.
I'm not sure if it is ina seperate pool or not. But one BIG thing that I noticed, the regeneration is faster than normal ham regeneration. AND it gets faster the lower you get.
I heard some number boucning aroundon different forums from 7-11 ham regenerationper second when close to your max, to 90 per second when you get real close to 0. I've only see one or 2 posts with actual number (TC closed down real quick).

Your forgot the damage is lesser now compared to before, let say :
Your use special and it cost 100, the mob hit for 100. you suffer 200 damage outright.
now :
Your use special and it cost 100, the mob hit you for 100, but with less damage taken with the new change, is like 40 (40% with highest being 80%)(Not taking into armour protection) . Total you suffered 140 damage. Since you pool regeneratefaster and is passive, you no need to stop special to be able to heal. But still they need to lower that HAM cost to be online with other range class.
Still as a carbineer, you still need to buff up.
I don't think its all gloom and doom but we could use more people on TC giving us information. It doesn't create a new pool it uses your original pool.
Lets use this example: You have 900 Health. Your move drains 100 health. You now have 800 health which regens quicker than regular damage, but cannot be healed. So lets say six seconds and you've used this move 3 times (and lets assume 10 dmg per second regen.) After the six seconds you would be at...I don't know! That's why we need testers!
Okay, here are the two schools of thought. Each shot has its own regen. Then you would be at +60 for the first one, +40 for the second and +20 for the third (lets assume you shot once every two seconds.) Each regen caps as 100, the cost of the original move. So you'd be at 720 in this example. Or if it is a flat 10 per second then you'd be at 660. We need more people to look at this.
There is also a new ability, Damage Mitigation. Carbineers, Riflemen and Pistoleers all get this. It improves as you go through the profession until you get the third level of it at Master. It will reduce the amount of damage you take by a certain percentage. Lets say that's 40%. So at high level you will take 40% less damage from range weapons at high level. We do not know if this comes off before or after armor (if that matters) so that's another thing that needs to be tested. Most of all we need to test to see if Carbineer/Rifleman/Pistoleer/BH/etc will continue to be viable or if we need lots of tweaks in the system. All the corrs need as much info as we can get about this (and I'm concerned about the effects on all three weapons) to present to the Devs if we have to lobby for changes. I'm not willing to say any one profession will be killed by this until we see what it will actually do.
1) There is no 'special additional pool' that the special HAM costs drain. It is your health, action and mind that get reduced. I was on test, spamming specials and yes, I could see my HAM bars getting smaller.
If a carbineer is spamming specials that cost 100 action per, within 10 seconds, that carbineer is going to be in a lot of trouble. The regeneration rate in no way approaches the speed at which carbineers can use up their action pool.
2) There are two types of damage mitigation skills. Carbineer (and pistoleer and rifleman) get RANGED damage mitigation. Everyone else gets MELEE damage mitigation. Since the vast majority of monster and NPC close into melee range, carbineers (and pistoleers and rifleman) do not get any additional damage reduction.
3) I'm not a doctor on test...but it makes sense to me that doctor buffs are still very helpful. Especially since the best buff is usually action, you'll have a huge action pool to drain, and since your quickness is skyhigh as well, the cost of spamming specials is very small. It also makes sense to me that stamina should increase the rate of regeneration (although I don't think it does right now).
Guess i ll just keep slamming down chef buffs every ten minutes.

Its not that bad, from what I've read even if you spam 6 cripples shots and you have 1000 action you'll still need to take 1000 points of damage to be incapped... The Special move pool regens apprently at 10 pts a second and I read that an overalll HAM cost reduction was made. So after a fight you might need to sit and rest for 10 seconds or so...
Its not a death sentence it actually sounds better to me if it is exactly as its described.
my understanding is that they are creating a specials pool that has an identical max to, but is seperate from, each of your HAM pools.
so if you have 900/1000/800...
your specials pools will also be 900/1000/800...but spamming specials won't deplete your health. they'll just eat into your specials pools...
Carbineer is far from dead. and it's not broken the way it works right NOW, either. these changes will actually serve to make the carbineer that much more formidable...especially since you'll now be able to wear armor and spam moves w/o worrying about damaging yourself...
Wow time to stock up on food before the price goes up... I can afford this change only cause food makes my specials cost 1 ham a shot but could you imagine me losing my 180 ham every cripple? Well the devs prove to us yet again that they dont play the game or even have it installed on there comps. I have thought about this change and what it is intended to stop but all it does is widen the gap of buff users vs non buff users to be even worse.

Sounds like a Fix for the CHEF Profession. Maybe Carbineer will get fixed in 2005
