Im just wondering, do they work the same way?

well, in my experiences..... Dodge just dodges. Counterattack pretty much is the same except u usually get a hit in immediately afterwards. Albeit not a special hit, just a regualar shot from yourcarbine.

Thats how it seems to be working for me. And any damage I can return on an opponent (even if its not Chargeshot or a Crippleshot) helps alot.

I also have +165 Counterattack at the moment. hehe

How exactly did you get +165 counterattack?

probably with skill tapes. it wouldn't surpise me if he did. I guess I need to start looting imp bodies again

My bet is he's a swordsman. I was thinking of going carb/swordsman for the damage mitigation and the insane counterattack modifier. I already counter half of a BH's shots at master carbineer.

Burnham is correct. I am a swordsman as well.
