Thread: Xmas Holo gave me carbineer... suggestions?

Yeah I definitely got a piece of art that looks like a wave of poo and a blue holo. So like every other nicely wrapped present I open it up and it says Master Carbineer. Cripes.

This wouldn't be so bad (especially after reading the thread that was recently posted) but I'm a commited Master Merchant/Artisan and more than 1/2 mastered the DE profession lol.

I have novice pistoleer and a few scout skills that I'll be ditching now I suppose but does anyone have any advice besides just how I can get carbineer xp? (I've read up on that already) Perhaps what getting an elite profession out of the holo means? I try to follow all the info that's circulating through the boards as much as possible but alas I have fallen behind. Real life sucks :-P

First of all, before you follow your holo, decide whether or not you REALLY REALLY want to have a Jedi Character. If so, then shoot newbie monsters till you master the marksman line in carbines. After that try going to advanced planets for carbine xp. If you have a pet, use it and solo. If you don't, get a group. I've found that the xp on Dantooine fighting pickets or voritors is good xp, either grouped or ungrouped. Be careful not to let anyone teach you ranged support in marksman unless you want that line, since a whole line of carbine skills require combat xp which is the slowest xp I've ever seen. Those are my two cents, and I'm sure there are other ppl on this forum that know more than me when it comes to carbines.

Actually, if you look closely, I belive most combat proffs have at least one line that require only combat xp. Here are some of 'em:

Fencer, TKA, Swordsman, Carbineer, Pistoleer, Rifleman, Commando, BH (Yes, you need it to get novice BH, after that never again) pikeman and i guess a few others.

I feel lucky since I was grooming my character to be a Master Carbineer and Master CH. So when I opened up my Xmas Holo, it said to Master Carbineer. I said, "OK, I will" (maybe I should have used my inside voice). Currently I only have Carbine 3, but I'm really close to Carbine 4. I know where the Carbineer trainer is in my town, so I'm good to go. I do know that the Vynocks on Corellia can be picked off pretty good with a Laser Carbine and Carbine 3 (/maskscent helps, but it's needed). However, the vynocks give about 254 Carbine xps each and I've counted as many as 20 from one nest.

that's def a consideration... I really need to find out whether my jedi char would go on the server of my choosing or the one I unlocked it on, thus requiring me to delete my char....

Errrr carbine is really easy, do some missions to collect money and xp, then when you hit laser carbine, find a group on dantooine, get novice there, when novice and thta you have collected some money get buff/buy new carbine/kinetic ubese, go to fort tusken kick some tails and go ^UP^.

It opens a second spot on the server you unlocked it on.

hehe thanks for answering my question from another post :-)

Thanks all for the tips. The reason I thought of carbineer as a death curse was because of the "I bet I can kill me before you can kill me" slogan I've seen on carbineer's sigs. Thanks much for the assistance.

Carbineers aren't a death curse, but we're plenty bugged up and our HAM costs are still super high. New dev response stated those two things among others will be fixed, so it looks very good in our future. The main joke in our sigs is that we have a higher HAM cost than the damage we put out. That is true if you figure in the difference in the targets total HAM, your HAM, and the cost/damage. (well pretty darned close anyhow) Buffs help tremendously, as do drugs and food, so if you have those, you'll do quite well. We aren't exactly slow, do good damage for the most part, and have some nice specials (when and if they work). Soon our specials will work correctly and we'll all start cheering.

Do what I do to combat the death curse. Find a budding combat medic or doctor, tell them to stick with you, and bring plenty of stims -- they'll level so darn fast they won't know what hit 'em, and then just go at it on missions and random hunting. Get a feel for your medic's capability, start them out slow to break them -- by the time they master medic (I give 'em a weekend of good hunting, assuming they've got the resources to get through the crafting), you can do what I do now with my medic buddy, and just keep queueing specials no matter your HAMs, and trust him to get you right before you'd not have the HAM to spend on one.
