Thread: What is a Master Carbineer now?

Here's my question, we all use the x/x/x/x system to define our skills.


A 4/4/4/4 Carbineer plus the Master box makes Master Carbineer...BUT!


If you take into consideration the broken specials, I would guess maybe,Masters are really 2/3/2/3 or something...


See where I'm going with my question?


What I'd really like to see, is the in game tree, with X's through the "tree", so I can see what's worth it or broken.

A MASTER CARBINEER.. IS A GOOD WASTE OF SKILLZ..

ONLY 1 GOOD WEP


the laser carbine does more damage to something that has 60percent to energy then a vul to the other carbine types (heat, acid ) (with or without armor)


(the timer on charge shot does not bother me .. but i notice it does not knock down hardly anymore.)


the fact that when you use charge shot 2 you get this broken chain command is hurtful.


no real bonus for master save the well needed defense plus..


my 2 cents.. (mastered it as a guess for my hidden holo prof... 15 and counting, i think)

Carbineer is a joke. Drop the tree and get something usefull like DE or pikeman.

Lol La-Grange DE is by no means useful , I should know I am Master DE, Master Carb and now both my professions have no purpose Well, now what to do? I have a feeling as soon as I change professions I'll get the nerf bat yet again. 2 days after I mastered DE, they announce the enormous setback on fixes to that profession. 2 days ago I mastered carbineer, go figure. Sorry guys I guess I'm the bringer of dev devastation.


I am still completely confused with what they did to CS1 anyway. "Added a KD timer" was what the patch notes said, but I go in game and fire CS1 at some stormies and I have no idea what is going on. Here is what I could make of it:


Pre Nerf CS1:

-had 5 sec KD on a successful hit

-had 30 sec timer between being able to have a successful KD

-unless target had high KD defense or I missed, the first CS1 was generally a successful knockdown

-"failed" KD's had an animation where the target is apparently KD'ed but gets right back up and the target's ability to fire back is never hindered. This was the only bug I saw, a screwed up animation and it doesn't allow the target to move if spammed.


Post Nerf CS1:

-has 5 sec timer on a successful hit

-i have never had 2 sucessful KD's on a target since the patch so I don't know if this is the same or different

-"failed" KD animation and stopping ability removed (fine)

-success rate of the shot dramatically reduced(I KD about 1 out of 5 times now)


So where the heck is this new timer they added??? I don't know if I'm way off here or not, but after an hour of fighting the stormies I concluded that carbineer is pointless now, our only working shot is cripple shot, but where is the fun in spamming that? We have no use in a group other than adding some damage, and soloing I have nothing to aid me anymore. I just have to stand with a ring of gurks around me and hope cripple shot kills them before I kill myself. There is nothing dynamic and exciting about carbines anymore and I find this extremely regrettable because I loved em until yesterday.


To you people who say we got what we deserved, and have been crying for a CS nerf, congrats, you ruined the game for many people when you didn't even know what you were whining about in the first place. I am so angry at trolls and nerf criers right now I am struggling to keep this civil. Our profession now doesn't stand a chance against any other combat prof. So now its our time to cry nerf right? I mean if we are weaker than everyone else, they ALL should be nerfed right? If all this nerf stuff keeps going on I think all that will be left of this game in a year is a giant sandbox for us to play in while our mummy devs make sure we don't fight.


Lol fitting that they fix our name right before making our profession the least attractive combat profession out there.

LOL. I was showing a little sarcasim.(lol too bad i can't spell)

Im not too happy that the devs in their infinite wisdom broke this profession. Now granted I never used chargeshot unless I needed my space if you know what I mean. It did tend to stop things in their tracks and that in itself was usefull when getting chased down by a group of graul maulers that decided to agro on you (remeber the little bug that made mobs kill you for "fun"). And sometimes that one to two second delay in advance was enough. And when they "fixed" charge shot 1 and 2(?????????? bugged, get a clue devs???????????) they took that stopping ability away. That is why so many are pissed off.

considering the boost pikeman got to their weapons, i may just pick it up again... oh wait, no can do... i have to defense stack just to survive in PvP now.

From my experience, the KD that charge shot produced, didn't seem to be on any noticable timer, as I have tested on a friend doing nothing but spamming Charge Shot 1. While the damage is negligable, he was never able to get off a shot. I got Master Carbs in my holo, so thats what made me go through that profession. I also have master Teras Kasi, so I loved the Charge shot factor. I would use chargeshot to KD them from a distance, close in dizzy, and if they got up again quickly equiped my carbine at any time and just knocked them down again.


The KD worked no matter what the targets resists were, notable by the message "you failed to knock down your target" or however that message goes, but they would still be knocked down. The only time they didn't get KD is if I missed or they dodged/counterattacked/parry


An untimered, unresistable knockdown is a little too unbalanced in my opinion, and I was fully expecting it to get nerfed. The only problem was, I also figured they would FIX the more important problems of and entire profession that only (now)has OOOOONNNEEEE useful shot! And that shot is horrible compared to other combat professions.


I had a Master Marksman only beat me in a duel with me just using carbines...

A MBH's take who loves carbines....(I'm MBH 0043)


You guys really got screwed hard and it's total BS. I still have a fair chance of controlling targets but to be a carbineer w/o dizzy is like being a marksman all over again. The only thing that makes carbines viable is the BH carbines tree, otherwise the profession is completey **edit**ed ATM.
