Thread: Elite Carbine.... then what?

Hi.
I've used the CDef, Laser and now Elite carbine.. Is there any better ones? or are we stuck with the Elite and leveling up skill?

Depends on what you're using it for. 
Generally for PvE, the laser is the way to go. For PvP I like my elite.

I've been doing some calculations and I think the Laser Carbine is actually better then the Elite... I'll post my results on a separate thread after further research.

Did you remember to throw in ranged mitigation to those equations? The laser carb has such a low minimum damage Ugh!

Yeah, ranged mitigation just destroys the laser carbs... I did a bunch of calculations for both armor piercing and damage mitigation, and even a basic elite thows out more DPS than a krayt laser.

Mostly use the DRX6 sliced and powered up, great for rancors.

Trust me guys... I'm running about as many calculations on this as I can and for the most part the Laser is still coming out on top.
And I'm not an idiot, of course I took RDM into consideration.

I'd really like to see/hear your explanation for how a laser is better than an elite.
Well, you will. I'll start a thread about it tonight. It's all about the multipliers. Things work with %s, not just raw numbers. The main factor is that the Laser has such a huge max damage. The huge max damage is multiplied over and over, not just added to. So while the Elite is getting little jumps on its 187 max, the Lasers max just get's larger and larger because it started out larger.

I'd really like to see/hear your explanation for how a laser is better than an elite. Just going by the numbers, and factoring in Mitigation 3, elite looks better for DPS. However, 1 thing peeps forget is that only ranged masters have Ranged Mitigation 3, so againstmost players, including all melee classes, the laser will still be better.

As of right now the elite carbine is the "highest" we have, but SOE recently added a Scythe to the Swordsman tree that included a looted schematic for construction which is kind of cool, and as far as i know the scythe is the only weapon with a cert in a box above on the elite combat profession, i imagine SOE will follow suit with the other combat profession, but then again the same arguement could have been made about a special at the master level of a combat prof.
