for grinding make sure it is a speed sliced carbine and go up the speed tree first. Elites can be nice too, and keep an ee3, dxr6, and nym's handy for when a mob has high energy resists. Also the enhanced bleed E11 will help too.

I did my whole grinding with Laser Carbines and Elite Carbines... One of the best way to grind is actually getting a group and doing these following missions....

Stormtroopers are great XP and if you have Charge shot, then you can start working on sticking dizzy and using charge shot. They also give FP and around 4 to 5K XP a kill. Hunting NPC is way better then creatures, for the reason you can hunt higher level mobs with dizzy shots.

Quenker on Dantoine is a very good way to start your grinding but it's boring and the pay check is slim

If you have a Nym carbine... You want to get a group and hunt Rancors on Dathomir... Believe me, I made over 300K xp in night there. I suggest you to find static spawns, they will be easy to find near the saarlac POI. ((bring a doc lol)) The rancors have low acid resist, they also give very good XP, since their harder to kill... you might be able to learn the exact effect on your moves. The loots and harvest is good and selling them will enable you to buy better weaponry.

Good luck!

If you're looking for fewer trips to the cloner in exchange for slightly slower advancement, I used a DH17 (fast carbine, good damage)on the newbie worlds (where lack of AP is less an issue)until I had theSpeed and Marksmanship lines done, then, paired with ChargeShot1 that I had picked up on the way, I spent the rest of my grinding fully buffed running the Crackdown cities plowing through stormtroopers.

Now that they nerfed the Crackdown, you can still get decent carbine xp at the Hyperdrive Research Lab on Rori or the Weapons Research Lab on Naboo.

Again, these guys lack armor, so a no AP fast and hard hitting carbine is still a great option.
