A guildie of mine was telling me that your substats do not only effect special cost and regen. He said that with higher substats he takes very little damage to the respective pool unless they are targetting that pool specifically.
I take this to mean that if my health pool is being targetted then my action/mind pools will take more or less dmg depending on what my action/mind substats are.
Anyone know if this is correct or not?
I always though that the pool that was being targetted took roughly 80% of the floaty dmg, and the other 2 pools took about 10% (could be 90%, 5%, 5% but it has been a long time since i heard the numbers). Of course, this wouldn't be the case with a scatter attack.
Please share your insights.

Very interesting and I have never heard this before.....
Just another variable to throw into this complicated combat system....

I think it is just the illusion of less damage that they add. If you get hit for 200, then immediately regen 50 it would almost appear as if you are taking 150, especially if you are looking at HAM bars and not the combat spam.

That is correct. Target specific attacks distrubute 80% of thier total damage to the targeted pool, and 10% to the remaining two pools.

willibus, that is what I suspected was happening. I figured since he was taking canape that his willpower was higher and it just looked like the dmg was diminishing to him.
Eisman, thanks for confirming the numbers.
