i took this off the BH FAQ:


Bounty Hunter Carbine specials


Underhand Shot




  • Damage mod: 3.0


  • Delay mod:1.5 or less


  • Pool hit: Random


  • Effect: Has a good chance of knocking your target down. HAM cost on this special are very high...With a laser carbine it is normally around 200.

Fire Knock down




  • Damage mod: 2.5


  • Delay mod: 2.0


  • Pool hit: Random


  • Effect: Has a good chance of knocking your target down, as well as applying a dizzy. HAM costs are also very high, but lower then underhand, normally around 170 on a laser carbine.

Confusion Shot




  • Damage mod: 3.0


  • Delay mod: 2.3


  • Pool hit: Random


  • Effect: Has a high chance of Dizzying, and stunning your target. HAM cost is very reasonable, normally around 75 on a laser carbine.


now after looking at our FAQ these specials seem completly uselss. the highest damage modifier is 3..... from our FAQ thats like our lowest, and it has the same effect as our own specials but with lower damage output. am i missing something here?

the dizzy that bounty hunters have is 1000 times more effective than any dizzy carbineer have so u make humioid mobs do the reverse worm for longer

The difference is that many "other" professions leave off a 1.5X modifier from their Specials. This is the most illogical thing I have ever seen and rivals some of the dumbest things the Devs have done.


They take away this 1.5X because that is the modifier for the Standard Attack. But when people calculate damage they use the Examine Window of the weapon so why reference the Specials to the Standard Attack.....I am totally amazed at such logic.




So please multiply those BH Special Damage Modifiers by 1.5 to compare to the real way to do it, ie Carbineer Special Listing. Or for the stubborn people out there, divide our listed numbers by 1.5X to compare....but then when you go to calculate the REAL damage done put 1.5X back.......goodness that hurts my brain to even suggest such a thing....ick



And no you don't have to be a Carbineer for this to make sense.....

I remember back at lauch when underhand shot was basically the only shot you needed. It had a special cost around 75 and there was no KD timer. Spam away and it dies.

Don't forget about Sprayshot at MBH. I dont think there has been any official testing but I've heard its approx 6.5 X Damage (including 1.5x) and sticks on dizzy/stun/blind reliably.

well ok, at least they stick the status effects 1000x's more. and with the 1.5x modifyer it makes it better. now to sit and wait for the update which is on my b-day so it better come out cause i want that BH line

BH Carbine is for speed/accuracy and humanoid state effects. Carbineer is for damage, defense (counterattack and states, not melee/ranged), accuracy while moving, AoE attacks, and scatter hits.

Quick summary of BH specials for Carbineers:

Underhand Shot is a high ham kd that doesn’t work as well as CS1. Only benefit would be if you don’t like the CS1 animation

Fire Knockdown is another high ham kd that works better than Underhand Shot but still not as well as CS1. It also has a very small chance of applying a dizzy with the kd, however I’d still suggest the FAS2->CS1 route.

Confusion Shot is good for applying multiple states like FAS2. States stick better than FAS2 but damage is less.

Spray Shot is the good one! High damage and good state effects.

As a Carbineer your main advantage from BH Carbine is the extra speed and accuracy, not the specials. FAS2 (novice carbineer) was my staple attack when climbing the BH tree as it has good damage and multiple state effects. Spray Shot (MBH) replaces this with more reliable sate effects and more damage, x6.5 compared to x5.5 for FAS. Cripple Shot is still the highest damaging special at x7.5 but it also has no state effects.

As a BH your main advantage from Carbineer is the Elite Carbine, extra accuracy, counter attack, Cripple Shot, and any AoE attack.

With the extra skill points BH are getting I look forward to being a Carbineer again. My only concern is the lack of defenses and ineffectiveness of ranged attacks on Jedi.

Hmm, effective template or cool looking weapons...
