With the recent adjustment to the skill point requirement to attain and maintain MBH I find myself with 34 skill points to invest in another profession. I already have Pistoleer 4-0-4-0 and I want to use carbines as well. How would you sugguest I invest these points for the most return. I play PVE mostly, but I do hunt the occasional Jedi.

I am bh 3400, pistol 0040, master sword and use my carbine for states/kd, and sword for dmg. I love the bh carbine line, I master carbine during holo grinding and the bh line is the best 14 poinst to put into carbine by far.
To answer your question, you could to one carbine line and get novice brawler for intimidate, halfs the jedi dmg, unless they can heal it. But to stack a stun and intimi is very nice if you can hit them. Or you could do 2 carbine lines, like the 2 def ones. Counter attack is nice so you don't get lit p while holding your carbine, and some accuracy while moving would be great cuz you won't be shooting while standing.
personally I would do the accuracy line and use cripple shot on folks, but I already have a lot of counter attack from swordsman... anyhow, just some stuff to think about.

I did
BH 0440
Carbineer 3440
Pistoleer 0044
Rifleman 0004
10 skill points left
you can drop down to carbineer 2440 or 3430 to get investigation 3 if you want, it doesn't change much (you lose either scatter 2 or suppression 2, usefull but not indispensable specials)
and I kick ass in PvP (even without ranged mitigation 3), nice melee defense, powerfull attacks for pistols and carbines, speed capped for both, best certs (except DE 10)
with this template you can take out potentially any FOTMers or Defense stacker, EASILY.
the best template I tried for 1vs1 PvP, and I tried em all, FOTM and such I just was MRM/MMarks/Mfencer/Nmedic before, can't even compare as that tempalte is WAY more efficient, a good balance between pistols and carbines, and between defense and offense (abit more offensive than defensive).
also good def vs states (65 vs KD and such), the best "full melee" eater template I found.
for exception of CM who'll get a balance soon anyway.

no need to go for carbineer 4xxx with MBH to cap the speed, speed is capped at BHx4xx carbines 2xxx so another extra 5 skill points to reinvest, I took carbineer 3440 and I have 100 speed (= higher than cap), scatter shot 2, and suppression fire 2 as well as alot of counterattack, in anyway, going for the mercenary title with BH carbines lines is a waste of skill points.

Should you wish to maintain Master Bounty Hunter, especially with all the hard work from the Investigation line (man, that was a doozy), to maintain your pistoleer skills, I suggest this:
Master Bounty Hunter
Pistoleer 4040
Carbineer 4400
This does the following:
* It maintains your MBH and current Pistoleer skills. Since you're a MBH, you have access to the kick@$$ Sprayshot and the useful Fire Knockdown. I had alsono wish for you to start dumping your hard earned skills.
* You get the most Carbine accuracy and speed you can get: +180 Accuracy and +105 Speed. And that is a good thing.
* You get access to Crippling Shot, Wild Shots, and Scatter Shots. BH Confusion Shot lands more states on a single target decently, but Wild Shot 2 is a AoE/Cone attack, but only stuns the targets. Crippling Shot is also our most damaging, single target special.
This suggestion also leaves you with 13 Skill Points. If you want to be even better with your Carbines, there's 2 routes you can take, but it depends on your playstyle and what you want to do with your Carbines.
Option A: Get Expert Carbine Counter Insurgency Tactics/Carbineer xx3x. You get access to Burst Shot 1 & 2. The Burst Shots are the Carbineer's higher damage specials and lower cost. Keep in mind they land no states. If you follow my above suggestion, you will already have the powerful Crippling Shot, so Burst Shot 1 may seem redundant. However, Crippling Shot is slower and much more poweful, but Burst Shot 1 is faster and does fair damage. Both of these specials are single target specific. Burst Shot 2 however does great damage as an AoE/Cone attack!
Option B: Get Expert Carbine Special Abilities/Carbineer xxx4. This gives you access to Charge Shot 1 (a KD move, but not you already have FireKD). It also give access to Full Auto Area 1 & 2. These two specials are nice AoE/Cone attacks and they have a chance to land Stun, Dizzy, and Blind. Great for your low-med. level PvE against groups of NPCs. Full Auto Area 2 gives the added bonus of more damage applied. This option gives you the ability to land multiple states against many targets efficiently.

Let me add this: In regards to the last 2 options I suggested, Option B, IMO, would suit you best. MBH and Carbineer 4400 gives access to great single target specials, whether they're for high damage or landing states on 1 guy.
With Carbineer xxx4, you will get specials to land many states on many targets, due to Full Auto Areas 1 & 2. Land states over groups of people/NPCs, then start laying in with Crippling Shot on individual targets, for instance.

Heh, I don't have anything usefull to add to this debate other than I agree that going for 4xxx is a waste of skill points if you are a MBH. I also gave this post 5 stars. This is definatley a good question. Perhaps we should have a sticky regarding the topic. There are alot of MBH's picking up carbineer.
