Thread: I'm Mystified by weapons... Help me demystify them...

So I've heard Carbines are supposed to be the be all and end all weapon nowadays, problem is, I just can't seem to find it for myself. First off, I'mMBH /Carbs 4-4-3-2/ CM 1-1-0-0...I know the cookie cutter template nowadays, but I've been working towards this for a while, even before the CU / Respec. So with what I have, I think that I should be doing damage pretty easily, with good speed and respectable damage per hit. Thing is that its not really going that great. I can maybe get off about 5-6 good shots before my action is gone, those shots don't even bring the opposition down to half health sometimes, and I tend to find myself standing there cracking of ranged shots over and over again before I have enough action to do another special attack. To top it all off, when I try to apply states, they almost never work (except snare and kd), which means I ended up wasting one of my few shots.
Where could I be going wrong? I'm using the same specials that I keep reading others to be using, so my best guess is it could be my weapon. Right now I'm usually using a Czerka Dart Carbine with a DPS of around 250 maybe (I dunno for sure because I'm at work 
). Is this good? if not, what is good? also what sort of SAC cost is considered to be good, I don't know what mine is, but maybe thats part of the problem?

Make sure the SAC costs on your weapon are below 100 as much as possible. High damage doesn't mean squat if you don't have enough Action to use it.

Exactly. As MBH you have access to the proton carbine which has a SAC of 85. If you can use an elite carbine, they can be found with SAC values in the mid 70's. You will find it almost impossible to exhaust your action bar with those weapons, especially if you've taken some brandy or canape.
High DPS can be achieved with a moderate damage, low SAC carbine that allows you to fire off specials without laying off.
In your case, you can also do KD/Advanced Critical Shot combos which can do a nice amount of damage if you critical hit while your target is down... slip those combos in when the timers cycle to increase your DPS even more.

As has been said - go get the proton carbine (you can quest it yourself with ROTW pretty easily.) I have 540dps with mine unmodified and an 85 sac cost.
