i think we need the opposite of that, as some of our skills are still broken.

please somebody explain what exactly they would be nerfing. Thanks!

We're getting a nerf (along with everybody else who uses posture changes and knockdowns) because SoE's adding a 30 second timer between when knockdowns and posturechanges can affect a target. So, I knockdown once, and can still fire knockdown for the damage, but my target won't get knocked down again until 30 seconds after the first one. Or, similarly, I'm trying to posture-kite with (say) actionshot2. I hit a group with it, they kneel, I fullautoarea them for damage, they stand up and start running at me, I actionshot2 again, and they take the higher bleed (if applicable), but don't kneel again until I hit them with an actionshot2 30 seconds later.

Indications seem to be that the timer is overall, not one 30 second timer per move. This is a bad thing if you use posture and knockdown to control stuff while you fight.

Carbineers feel this nerf hardest, because we have the most posture changes, and have assumed the unofficial niche of "crowd control" because of our diverse array of AE posture changes (actionshot2, chargeshot2, suppression2) that nobody else has. We've accepted the iffiest targetted pool (neither the most frequently hit health, nor the unhealable mind), high HAMs, and average levels ofdamage because of this anticipated role, and now that role (keeping targets or multiple targets pinned at range) is being nerfed with a timer.

That's why you see everybody talking about getting nerfed.

that is not only a nerf to carbineers, its a nerf to all classes that have posture change/knockdown.

Wow Fuzby, you are a shining example of someone who cannot read.

Yes, it is a nerf to all professions with Posture Change/Knockdown, but because Carbineers have the MOST Posture Changes/Knockdowns (2 Knockdowns and 3 Posture Changes) we are getting hit the hardest.

And I keep asking the Devs but they won't respond whether or not this is PVP only or PVE only or both.

HiYa,

I hate to say it but from what I have read on the test center, since they are testing this very thing right now. It is for both PvP and PvE.

I am trying to get confirmation there if the timer for KD and posture are at least seperate timers but maybe they are on the same in which one would have to decide whether to posture or KD not both I guess. Oh and forget about ever getting anything to prone unless it happens to be kneeling when you posture shot it.

Personaly I am not fond of this change, unless they left postures out of it but they will do as they please I guess. Like they did for droids, making them perma-death then taking it back now and everyone lost thier droids, they also added armor for droids back in i noticed. For which I am thankful, sinceI PAID for it!

whats the point of supression fire if the guy can just get up and have 30 seconds to run anyway he pleases? Really, 30 seconds is plenty of time for an advancing crowed to get in and kill every carbineer in sight. Thats a ridiculously long timer, 15 seconds tolerable, 30 then there is no point to using posture changes whatsoever.

You know i would be find with this if enemies in the field were not 99.999% in mobs or 3 or more. This game I like. But the one thing that could potentaly get me off of it and say back to CS is if i have to spend 20 minutes getting a group together to go hunting. If i can't solo anything because it and all its buddies will come a chew me up with no defence save a posture change or kd every 30 secs, then it may be then end of my galaxies experience but we'll see.

Greetings, I am new to the Carbineer tree as I was a Master Teras Kasi (far from Carbineer) on Sunrunner. I started my Carbineer on Test Center (yes that's right, TC). I am currently working towards Specialist under Marksman. But when I make Novice and start attaining skills I will directly tell all of you what my findings are on all the latest patches.

If they nerfed posture changes (and the carbineer class) it's gonna be for one of three reasons:

1) they have a greater vision of balance in mind and are migrating to that
or
2) they know the current game is not balanced and are trying random ideas (they have no idea)
or
3) they are knee-jerk reacting to whatever thing they notice first (they have no idea)

Either way, I strongly suggest you all take a second profession so at least you can play that and have fun if they do some thing drastic (and foolish!).

Incidentially... I think the biggest issue is the dev's lack of communication. I mean, if they simply said "hey guys we are slowly moving all the professions to a new dynamic and we know what we are doing" then that would make everyone happy (in theory)

i don't see why they are doing this for posture change...its not as bad as KDs...at least u can still fire. and it doesn't really last that long to bother melee class. carbines are not fast enough to stop a melee guy from getting there..plus carbines miss a lot too, especialy at close range and while moving.

It's more likely to put things in line with the con system, to stop people from easily soloing red cons which is pretty easy with the posture changes as they are now. Worse than knockdowns actually, since they cost so much less. Also, maybe at novice you'll miss alot, but a carbineer/bh carbineer will be easily able to run in a circle around a target at point blank range, shoot once a secondand not miss at all with a laser carbine, so that's not really good grounds for why its not bad in pvp.

A timer to posture changes isn't the answer. What they need to do is make certain higher con mobs more resistant to posture change.

In addition, they need to take away the posture change effects from the actionshot series and put them back to their intended skill line (suppressivefire). Chained posture down isn't the problem persay. The problem is we can keep the target pinned while it just bleeds to death because someone screwed up the skills.
