Thread: So how is HAM cost calculated???

I've just started my path to Carbineer becasue a little voice told me to and was almost to master pistoleer. I'm still in the marksman tree and just started using a DH17 Carbine, well actually I went back to the CDEF carbine because I can kill things quicker with it.

Anyway, the HAM cost on my DH17 is H=57, A=66, M=48 but when I use Full Auto Single 1 I get hit with 240 Health and Action cost which gives me only 2 or 3 shots before my HAM is down to 1/4 total and less than half of my shots actually hit so the weak creatures are barely even hurt and I'm badly injured. I'm guessing it's a gun to use without special actions.

I read some post and they mentioned HAM cost being too high, but this is just silly.

Will these HAM cost go down as I progress up the tree or use better carbines? Do I need to build a carbine with all exp points into ham and forget about damage or just stick with my 38-77 low ham CDEF???

First off the HAM on that carbine is ridiculous, second never ever use full auto one or two without being buffed. The HAM modifiers on that special are too high to be effective. HAM costs will not reduce as you climb up that carbineer tree, your best bet would be to get a better carbine.

That DH17 most likely got a stock and scope to have those HAM costs. Try to get a regular DH17 short with a low HAM scope and it should have something around 1/3 of the HAM costs. It will still drain your HAM bar very quickly though.

One of the stickies will tell you about ham costs for every special.

Get a DH17/DH17snubnose carbine without a stock and with a 0 ham scope. The ham on one of those should be around 25/25/14 give or take a few points.
