Hey all, I am a Rodian scout who uses carbs (and one handed melee if I get really mobbed) and was wondering what kinda armor I should wear so my HAM doesn't get raped. Right now I wear an Armorweave chest and helmet, Bone boots and gloves. Anhelp in this dilema would be greatly appreciated.

I don't use any armor now.

well, just some Ubese Boots, bracers and gloves but...

I have a number of young characters I've started, I have not bothered to get them any armor at all. One is a Brawler

one is a pistoleer / brawler.

Both are working on their Master Specs in the Marksman / Brawler trees and both do fairly well with just cloth.

That may not work for you,

or be the answer you are looking for.

I can remember when I first began how I looked to each new piece of armor as it came out,

Chitin looked so cool!

Then I learned about numbers, vunerabliities and such,

then started to pay attention to the encumbrances...

ouch!

My HAM costs were starting to eat me alive, and, as I was not healthy enought to wear a complete suit of armor without a buff...

I began to pay more attention to all those folks running around in trenchcoats

and asking questions.

I've been without armor for a couple of weeks now,

probably earned a good bit more xp without it than I did to earn Novice BH.

I like the lack of encumbrance

I don't like when I get whacked for nasty damage....

It's a trade off

(But I don't get hit often...)

Hey thanks for the help. I also dabble in one handed melee. That's why I was wondering about the armor issue. So I should go for boots, gloves, and helmet and that is it? I think that sounds reasonable but no one on Wanderhome makes Ubese yet. I'll look into it thanks!

I'm a rodian too. I have basically 2 sets of clothing:

1. clothing

2. full suit of composite armor

When I'm shooting NPC's, I use 1. When in PvP, I use 2....

...that's pretty much it lol

Composite Armor and look into investing in Brandy and Muon Gold along with Doctors Buffs and if you're lucky an Entertainors Buff which could mean you could skip Brandy and Muon with an Entertainor's buff if it's good enough. To be a Carbineer and an effective one you have to use the buffs when you're planning on doing either PvP or fighting NPC's.

I currently have handled as tough as a dificulty 125 enemy spawn camp solo with full doctor (2500 average for the buff) along with a combination of Brandy and Muon to keep the mind recharge up so I don't die from mind incap. And to give you a feel on where I stand as a Carbineer I just leveled up to a 3 3 3 3 Carbineer. When I handled the 125 spawn I was a 2 3 3 2.

Just have to remember the Muon only lasts for an average of 5 minutes but the Brandy works for 40 minutes as a mind buff and these things will cost you but are WELL worth it in the long run meaning you'll be able to take the higher paying missions and have a chance at comeing out smileing and make up the cost in a matter of a few missions. (Averageing 5000-5500 credits per mission)

Hope that helps.

I would suggest some 70%+ Ubese, sliced for Encumbrance.

It provides good Kinetic protection at a cheaper cost than composite and is more than enough for doing MOB's in PvE missions.
