Thread: Sony needs to take Firearms training
It's obvious that no one knows how weapons work in the real world. I'm ex-army infantry (10 years) and if our weapons were developed by Sony we'd never win any conflict. If I aimed a M-16 at a target, I didn't hit a target that's 30m to the Left or Right of it. Even on burst shot or full-auto (old M-16A1) I could keep my rounds within the general target area.
I hate doing a Actionshot if any mobs are in my line of sight besides my target. It never fails but to hit the little creature that's not anywhere close to the big huge freaking monster in my sights. And don't cry recoil, because I'm using laser weapons. Laser weapons shouldn't have recoil, recoil comes from gunpowder based weapons. I'd have to assume that in the future, laser based weapons would have little to no noticable recoil.
Actionshot needs to hit the targeted creature. If I do this as a living (carbinier), then I think I would be a good enough shot to hit a Bull Ronto and not the little gorg. I'm sick of hitting the wrong target when I've got the one I want to hit targeted in my sights. Not to mention that all my other shots hit the target, just my Actionshot goes astray. If I want to hit multiple targets, I've an area fire I can use.
Bottom line: Sony learn how weapons work in the Real world. You screwed them up big time in Planetside (Insane Cone of Fire's on futuristic laser weapons). You've screwed them up in SWG. Even todays weapons are more accurate than any of the futuristic weapons you've introduced in your games.
Is that why I'll be attacking acaveman on Dantooine and pickets will suddenly charge at me for no reason?
It does seem to happen while using /actionshot2...
Ok am I the only one able to do this or am I just not understanding why the initial poster is complaining, I mean the day you are running around New York with a Rancor named Bubbles following you and a cloud pops up over ur head saying Bubbles Follow dont you think reality has been put to the side of how this game ultimately works? Also, at current Do you not realize at current actionshot 2 is an AOE POSTURE DOWN attack.. Let me paint a picture of my normal fights. First pick mobs that dont shoot back ie kinetic mobs or shoot back but have range less then say 50m. A bunch of whites, yellows, reds whatever, I normally fight reds. If they are baf mobs dont worry its alittle harder but not much. Drink some Sunburn, Eat some Icecream ( to counter the effects of the Burn ) now you got a +1500 str/sta buff -100 Focus and a +250Focus bonus so all in all ur not gonna lose any action points and cost for using ur weapon might as well be nothing, the only dmg you will take is to ur mind pool but with proper migration that should be minimal as well. Bull Tortus, Tortus, Dalyrakes, Dung mites are all good targets for someone looking to kill mobs lvl18 to 26, But the concept works for all mobs. Actionshop2 into a croud, repeat, repeat, repeat now at this point you should have gone past the 3 shot buffer when the mob attacks you. If all ur shots hit then you now have a hurd of mobs sitting there looking at you dying. If you missed you might have to move back alittle or even reposition urself as to include all agro, but just continue to action shot2 till you have all ur mobs in ur sight. at this point you can fire 2 shots of legshot 2 before another action shot2, however if you miss a target its better to go actionshot2 legshot2 repeat repeat. at this point you can switch targets and apply bleeds to all of them or just take them down as they go, sometimes actionshot2 will do high dmg sometimes not to the added targets but as long as you keep them postured down you will never take any dmg. All in All have dropped a group of 8 Red con mobs at one time maybe only taking 2 hits and only losing 20% health , 0 action, and about 40% mind. The fights usually go 2 to 4 mins depending on how many I have and with 8 lets say Dalyrakes ( Keep in mind matriach (sp)? Spit ) gives a totall of 12k Carbine xp 2400 combat xp and 1200 scouting xp for harvesting plus about 350 resources all for 2 to 4 mins of work. I would agree that something isnt right but its not that actionshot isnt working right. its that it is working too well and Thank Goodness for SOE employees not knowing how real guns work.
Now maybe Im the only Carbineer able to do this or knows how, If so let me know and I will be more then happy to demo but I would hope that ALL of my fellow Carbs would realize what we are capable of doing right now and use the skills that SOE has granted you.
You guys gotta realize that Star Wars took place a long long time ago, so of course today'sguns are going to shoot better.
I saw a Rancor running through California a few days ago. No wait, that was just Arnold Schwarzzenegar.
Thanks for the post, above poster, that was good laughage ![]()
I dont trust anyone from SOE to be able to tie their own shoes. Hell would freeze over before id ever give one of them a gun. Like it really matters. SOE office is in San Diego, they could always just drive a couple of miles north to camp pendalton and have marines teach them about fire arm mechanics.
Suffice it to say that this effect has nothing to do with recoil. It is, in fact, a "feature" of the move. The move fires in a cone, just like all of our AE moves -- if you have a problem with this, all of these cone moves have single-target equivalents as well. Use actionshot1 instead of actionshot2, use fullautosingle2 instead of fullautoareas. Use chargeshot1 instead of chargeshot2. This is entirely intentional, and intended to be an advantage, not a side-effect or penalty. If you use them at inopportune times, that's your fault for not learning the way the moves work.
Do I complain about how useless my gun's accuracy is since I "miss the body" constantly when firing legshots? Of course not. So why are you complaining that our AE moves fire in a cone?
