Thread: Color Carbine
I thought i read somewhere that one of the Carbineguns shoots out Green laser. I thought they said it was the Laser Carbine. But when i bought it my laser was still red. Did i miss read that or is there a Carbine gun that shoots out a different color laser?
It's not the Laser..
It's the ermm.. don't remember what it's called... DRX6 or something?
The one that does Acid damage.
Examine an enemy before attacking it. See what it is vunerable to.
Laser carbine does energy damage, DXR6 does acid damage, EE3 does heat damage.
You'll want to look at the link to the damage types on the main page, there is a science to it.
Laser does energy damage which many creatures have protection or special protection against... but laser has an armor piercing rating of medium... where as DXR6 has no armor piercing capability (I think).
Armor ratings of enemies and armor piercing abilities of weapons result in a bonus/penalty to damage inflicted.
for example, the combat window will report that I hit an enemy (with energy vunerability) for 900 with my laser carbine, but on the screen i'll see that I hit for 1350... that's because I get ~50% bonus for shooting a creature with no armor rating with my medium armor piercing weapon.
I'm a little too lazy to go into any more detail, go look up a section on damage types and armor rating.
the dxr6 is my absolute favorite carbine...i just looked and its speed is 2.7, when i thought it was 3.7. not sure if i just remembered wrong, or it changed, or what, but always a nice surprise =)
also, it has a light armor pierce, and fairly tight damage ranges (100-180 for min/max, falling into that range).
interesting side note: if a creature has no resistances listed, then the damage on the combat tab and over the creature/target's head will be the same. if there are resistances, but the target has a vulnerability then the two will be the same, even with armor pierce. if the creature has resistances and armor and vulnerability to the damage type, then the two will be different (for instance, shooting a durni will result in the same damage on both with a dxr6. shooting a creature with medium armor/vulnerabilty to acid will have different spam.)
i was testing out burst shot1 v. full-auto single2 (bs1 wins, imo, btw) when i noticed those interesting results, thought i'd post what i found...and this thread seemed moderately on-topic. flame me later, i'm tired right now
