Thread: Min range nerf possibility

I have been reading a lot of threads regarding a possible nerf for a min range on rifles and or carbines.


Rather than having a min range or an accuracy modifier, why don't they consider something like a Ideal damage range.


example:


Carbineeruses an elite carbine


from15 meters or less he does X amount of damage -30 or 40 % for lack of ideal damage range.


from 16 meters to 35 meters and does full potential damage of his weapon without any modifier.


from 36-50 meters he does X amount of damage -30 or 40 % for lack of ideal damage range.




Any thoughts people ?

I actually liked that ideal damage range idea. Isn't that what we had Pre-CU?

yep, yes it is, and liked it alot, it made keeping at a certain range good, but not required

Ayami - MCH since september '03 and until NGE.
The removal of CH and the NGE in general is the dumbest thing a company has ever done. period.
CH deserves to stay, and SOE deserves to be *#&$^#*@ until they are #*&$& and then *#&$ some more!

what we had pre-cu was an accuracy modifier instead of a damage modifier, this concept would work very similiar but using a damage mod instead of the accuracy penalty or accuracy bonus

Although this is what i do atm, this is also the cause of FOTM.


If they are going to try to make this game have some sort of balance then the range for each weapon is still an issue.


As a pistoleer has no chance of ever taking a smart rifleman one on one.


So i had been reading threads regarding the possibility of the devs making minimum range on rifle and carbines, and in my opinion that would be a huge mistake to do and destroy those ranged professions.


Hence why I brought up this damage modifier idea.


To use your weapon to its best and most efficient ways you should use it at ideal range but it doesn't mean you can't fight at other ranges with this idea

People complaining about a lack of range to their weapons need to pick up a bigger gun.
