Thread: +25 Carbine Defense worth getting?
I got it. I don't notice much of a difference, but its a good price.
I paid 5m for a +25 carb defense / +18 pistol defense
I was absorbing 15/55 damage without my +25 and I was absorbing 19/55 with it.
If the accuracy of your target is higher then your defenses they do additional damage to you, so in PvP and/or duels/ BH Jedi conflicts, it is certainly usefull to have as high as possible defenses.
The effect in PvE might be significantly lower (in addition to the fact that it might be bugged as the pervious post stated).
If you want to test it, test it in a duel with a friend.

Its bugged atm so just hold onto it
proof? haven't heard this at all. seemed to work for me, dimishing returns reduce its usefulness but it does work i think

It is suppose to give +25 ranged and melee defense when holding a carbine and 4 points of damage is not a conclusive statement.
Testing against an NPC with unknown accuracy is not a conclusive test.
Carbine defense tapes work just fine. When testing to see if it works you have to take into account diminishing returns.

I have one and will test it out for you. But my experience is it does work.
The "diminishing returns" statement is a bit misleading when applying it to defense and accuracy. You only get to the point of diminishing returns when your defence is much greater or much less than the opponents accuracy.
Same with accuracy. If your accuracy is hopelessly less than your oppenents defense you wont notice if you increase it by 25. It will still be hopelessly less.
BUT when your defense and the oppenents accuracy are within 100 points of each other you will start to notice the difference of a +25 bonus.
Thats the theory anyway. And I will try to test this out this evening.

do we have any results by now?
I did some testing last night. Youre not gonna like it though...
I tested my +25 carbineer defense AA against a rifleman doing headshot.
