Hello everyone,

Just a few updates for this week. Nothing concrete but just bringing everyone up to speed.

1. Coming combat changes. If you have not read Thunderheart'sSWG: The Art of Combat post please go read it. The coming changes will include Carbineers.

2. There is very likely going to be a patch this week. Of note to Carbineers is the addition of damage mitigation. I suggest readingthis to get up speed. This change does effect Carbineers in PvP because of the negative effect it will have on laser carbines. In PvE, particularity vs NPCs that use blaster weapons, this will provide a boost.

3. Vehicles are coming this patch. This will help people without terrain negotiation who hate mounts. They are VERY fast and VERY fun. However, depending on how the final stats fall, they may be very expensive to buy and expensive to maintain.

4. I believe this week I will have a response to SOJ's Top 5 Issues. Actually, I have written up a summary of the response and I am waiting for Thunderheart's approval to post it. I would rate it as mixed. It has some good news and some vague news. This is true of every response for every class so do not feel like Carbineers are not getting attention while others are. There was supposed to be a cycle of discussion about the issues: correspondants submitt the top 5, the Devs respond and then both sides discuss issues where they do not agree. While the Devs have responded to the top 5s and I responded to their response, the cycle seems to have stopped there (this is true for all classes). Hopefully the cycle will start again soon. While this may seem upsetting, with the coming changes it is very difficult for the Devs to discuss certain issues as they believe that their coming changes will fix them. Thus, they would seem to be ignoring them while behind the scenes they could have fixed them. Time will tell how all of this shakes out.

Thanks again for the heads up Nova. It is greatly appreciated. I am of the impression we won't see any class specific fixes until the dust settles from the combat fixes.

I loved using laser carabine - I guess DXR6 is the best now - well I've used it before too, because of the 22m optimum range.... btw - since most of the mobs are melee does that mean that will have no effect on my PvM?

Just to clarify, creatures will not have any damage mitigation. Laser carbines areunchanged with respect to fighting creatures and NPCs.

Only players have damage mitigation.

Did the new HAM system make it into the game last night?

I didn't notice any change with that

What I did notice is that NPCs are doing alot more damage to me than they were before and using specials more liberally

sheeeeeesh.. even on these forums they mess up the spelling? So now there are Carbiniers, Carabineers and what's next Caribbeans? Oh well, at least they TRY to get your profession spelled right and not completely ignores you like they do to us thePikeMen. Wait, that's Polearms according to last patch.. Guess I'm a master Polearm now

It's so nice that we accept being lied to so often, especially when Thunderheart makes specific references to fixes for our class and we end up with not even a spell check being run over us.

That said, I know TH is just regurgitating what Vass and JustG spin to him, so I can't blame him for it, as he would say, that is the risk of stating specifics...

I suggest that we not believe any promised fix until we are actually seeing it live.

I still feel that Vass and JustG owe us all a personal apology. Taking your sweet time to fix bugs is one thing, but releasing new content when the bugs were major and known for 3 weeks on the test server is unexcusable, bad programming, and a poor representation of the industry in which I work in. Perhaps they should be sent back to school to learn how to test software.

Before anyone says anything, it only took me 5 minutes to discover the speeder graveyard issue on test center, a few weeks ago.

Great so killing myself in five specials wasn't enough for the devs. Whats it gonna be now? One shot one kill. For me that is.
