Thread: Ingredients for Carbines

Could someone please list two things for me -


1. what ingredients are needed for carbines specifically, and


2. what stats matter the most.



I've been told it's just copper and aluminum in general but in another thread I read something about polonium iron. Could any kind weaponsmith out there let me know what I need to harvest? On my server (Tempest) there are very few good carbines because most of the good metal gets put into rifles and pistols (so I'm told). I'd like to harvest the uber metals for myself when they spawn and then do a contract with a MWS to make a few crates.


Does any stat other than OQ and conductivity matter? do those two stats matter the same?

I think you'd get more response to this thread if you posted it in the Weoponsmith forum. We use carbines, most of us don't craft them.

Stats are OQ and conductivity ... now what resources depends on the carbine of choice plum iron is used is some and it's hard to get good stats on my server ( Tempest )

Its not just the metals for the frame of the gun but also inert petrochemical, gemstone, metals and reactive gasthat go into the power blaster handler thing, the scope and stock (both of which are optional) and the barrel.


Most serious and relatively successful master weaponsmiths (ie not holo-grinders) seriously mine the hell out of everything they think they will use ...and then they mine more of it....and then they buy more of it because they learn something very early as a weaponsmith when they find some good resources in the ground: they may not see that particular metal or chemical with that good of stats in the ground for a loooong time. they also know that if they dont stockpile it (well into the 100's of thousands of units) and they run out of it before their competitors do, their weapons will be inferior and thats not good for business. aside from this, most master weaponsmiths also have people who regularly mine and survey for them so that they can keep tabs on what is in the ground on all the planets at the time.


trust me, you think you want to find the absolute best of every resource a weaponsmith needs? all the master weaponsmiths i deal with have a fetish for it. the big problem (at least for carbines) is that polonium iron and plumbum iron (used in carbines like the e11 and the elite) repeatedly suck bad and this seems to be a problem on every server. so bad in fact that there has never been any plumbum remotely deserving to be labeled "good" on my server and ive never heard of any good plumbum or polonium existing on other servers.


that being said, you can be assured that you probably wont find any remote, high quality veins of plumbum or poloniumon any planet that isnt known (or soon will be) known about and harvested with every construction slot any decent weaponsmith can muster. on the other hand if you still want to hunt down and harvest the finest carbine resources you can find then i think you will find lots of friends among weaponsmiths and probably

oops double post



anyway, ya, read the weaponsmith forums and talk to some weaponsmiths. most of them would be glad to have another miner/surveyor contracting with them to find the best resources for carbines and weapons in general.
