Thread: HAM usage in PvP?

I've recentlystartedtryongPvP with my Carbineer/BH build.

I'm using a Krayt Enchanced E11 with adv.stock as my PvP gun. The HAM costs are pretty high due to the stock.

I wear a composite armor (and is buffed) in combat and I noticed the HAM costs on mind was extreme. A bunch of specials shot and I was almost mind-incapped. So I'm started to wonder... is the only way todrink a double brandy mix with a moun gold?

What are your experience? Would you recommend to use a low HAM gun instead?

Get musician buffs and chug brandy and use ahrisa if you need it...Just get your focus above 1500 with your armor on.

Good luck with whatever you find. It seems to me, that no matter what, that in PvP I'm just getting mopped. Buffed, with brandy, food, whatever in full compo armor with a Laser Carbine, I usually get a few shots off before being incapped. The worst part is, it seems I do NO damage to anyone. It might not be so much as your cost to mind, but the point that who ever your fighting is using mind attacks. I know a lot of professions have that, and while I'm not master carbineer yet, I don't recall seeing anything that hits mind.

Two shots of brandy and muon gold seem to help. Best I can tell you though.

With a Laser Carbine in PvP you probably are doing next to nothing. Laser Carbines are hit hard by Damage Mitigation. Try a nice Elite or DXR6 Carbine for PvP situations.

Since you are a BH/carbineer and have all the speed in the world, get your hands on a damage-sliced elite with a stock and scope. Do not worry about ham costs.

Next, realize that at 1500 focus, your mind HAM cost will be zero. There are many ways to hit 1500 including brandy, musician buffs and stat migration.

That being said you may not be able to compete in PvP no matter what you do. The problem is not even with you or even Carbineer. The problem is armor. Right now armor in the game is unbelievably overpowered and, thanks to buffs and brandy, has zero negatives associated with wearing it. Thus, in many cases, your ability to compete in PvP comes down to whether or not your class can bypass armor. The only classes that can do that are pistoleers, fencers, rifleman and combat medics. Somehow, the devs will need to address armor and its function in this game. It won't happen until the combat rebalance and in all likelyhood, the future of PvP in SWG depends on their success in bringing balance to armor.

To expound upon what nova is saying. I was doing the /open thing in the star port today. Just seeing what there was to see.

The highest grade of composite I saw out there had 37%stun/69%electric protect and a shocking 80-87% base. All armor was sliced for damage. I saw this type of armor on more than one person.

Migitation hit the laser carbine hard but I wouldn't count it out with resists like that. At master you still going to have wild fluctuation in damage, but you will hit the high end alot more than a novice. Well that is my observation and opinion. I don't have hard data to back it up.

The elite is dandy but the DXR6 has a slightly higher min damage. I have a stocked/damage sliced DXR6 that has a min that is about as high as the max damage on a normal elite (no optional attachments). Ham is atrocious though and speed is slow so I mainly use it for hunting. I would have to be a super carbineer to deal with the 4.2 speed of that weapon.

My armor is 85% base and around 12% stun I think.....I had to get it to compete in PvP.....even though I think the cap should be at 70% instead of 90%.

Now that I have a near Master Musician 4344 to go with my Master Doc, I hope to compete quite well in PvP with my armor and uber attachments and Krayt Carbines and uber Food/Drink. Sad it takes all that, many millions, to compete with the most basic TKM and/or Rifleman......

In the coming weeks I hope to report on some very successful solo PvP Then again I may just be reporting how bad my arse gets kicked

Use 2x Brandy + 2 x Canape + Syntsteak (lower damage taken) . Another combo is 2x Brandy + Vercupti (add 1200 to H/A/M) + Canape. (or synthsteak; question is which is best). And a Moun gold. If you do long batlle it might be clever to use smuggler delight before taking the spice (lower downer 90%).

I did some PvP:ing yesterday with Ok result.

I had master musician buffs (+500 focus, willpower), one brandy (+400) and one Canape (+700). I could spam specials without any HAM loss, which felt pretty good.

I loaded by carbines with +30 min damage, +15% speed powerups.. they worked well.

Personally, I use Dancer/Doctor buffs, Verscupti, 1 hit ofVaserian brandy (save room for Blue Milk!), Neutron Pixie (or Muon) and if I last more than a couple minutes, I hit a vagnerian canape (a percentage point shy of working with the Verscupti.

With Pixie:

5200+ Health
4500+ Action
2900+ Mind

HAM, shmam.
