Thread: How high do you need to get sub-stats?

When fully buffed firing specials will not loose any HAM and regenerates faster than you loose them.

What are the tresholds you need to get that a) lower special cost enough and b) Get high enough regeneration rate to recover each special?

Any "magic" numbers (1500?)?

Unless the HAM on your carbine is in the 50+ range on the base weapon HAM stats, 1500 is the magic number.

I've got a carbine with truly unholy HAM stats and its a 1800+ weapon.

Thx.

Have anyone figured out what the formula is behind HAM cost and HAM stat? For example if quickness is 500 it is 1.0 x HAM cost (=HAM on weapon x Special modifier), at 1000 it is 0.5 etc?

Knowing this would help a lot when trying to optimize which (chef/spice) buffs to use.

Hey, this looks like a case whereI need to come up with some more calculations.....SWEET

Nova has done the HAM modifier for Specials so we should be able to incorporate that into some formula, unless this has already been done. Due to the difficulty to control the exact substat numbers this could prove to be a difficult task. Although with my armor I can get my Constitution and Stamina to 1 so maybe I could read the correct HAM cost and compare to the Strength and Quickness numbers. Since I have a Master Doc I can get 3-4 different values

Too bad I am at work as I would love to try some of this out

I figured this all out long ago. Now the trick is to find all that info. 1500 is definately the breakpoint to hit zero cost. It is a linear line until you get to very low sub-stats like 100 then it just flattens out.

This is actually one of my pet peaves as a Doctor. Players insist on having HUGE doc buffs to their secondary stats. In reality, for strength and quickness, you really are wasting good resourses if you buff for much over 1800. Ever see that episode of the Simpsons where Homer becomes smart and then can't deal with the world so he goes back to being dumb. Yea....

BUT, my armor costs me around 900 HAM.....my substats are at 300......so PLEASE gimme those nicer buffs.....

Good composite with triple layering and all effectiveness slicing? He's VERY serious. I've heard reports of 1000+ encumbrance on the REALLY good stuff.

I have ONE suit that is over 1000 HAM.......and yes they are all worth it when I can tank 4 Enraged Rancors without dropping a bit of HAM with "average" buffs.....

Silly Nova, you have such a sheltered life....
