quick question...Does melee/ranged mitigation only work in your favor if you are holding a melee/ranged weapon? What i mean is, if i have melee mit 2 does it even factor in if i am holding a carbine? I seem to think that it should work with whatever you are holding, but a friend of mine seems to think melee hits only get mitigated if you are holding a melee weapon (and have melee mitigation)

Well the defenses of Block, Counterattack, and Dodge only function with the appropriate weapon, so it is very possible that Mitigation works the same way. Unfortunately I don't have proof either way.

Mitigation is not "weapon sensitive", i.e. you get both mitigations (if you have them) all the time, no matter what you are holding. It works the same was as ranged/melee defense.

yeah, I know how it is intended to work, but I was wondering if it actually did. Guess i need to go test it myself.

I wasn't telling you the way it was intended, I was telling you the way it works.

I never really ran any methodical tests on it, but I had melee mitigation 3 and only ranged mitigation 1 at the time they pushed that patch through. I noticed a huge decrease in melee damage taken in PvP, while ranged damage I took seemed to have an unnoticeable change.

I tested melee mitigation the other day with a Pikeman friend of mine, we weren't able to nail down any specific values, but the damage was severely reduced. He was beating me with a Long Vibro Axe, and i was a Master Swordsman. Gonna do some tests and hopefully nail down some numbers
EDIT: I was unarmed
