Thread: a question comparing knockdown effectiveness

Hey - First off, i'm shedding my pistol skills left and right to pick up more carbines, I love carbines, so much fun. OK, so I'm just another BH coming to the carbines board for info, to be fair i'm carbineer 2403 so I have some carbine cred.

If there are other BH/Carbineers about (there are? omg) i'm wondering if you find underhanded, fire kd, or charge shot 1 to be the most reliable knocker-over-er. I've been using confusion and underhanded against single opponents (and FOA2 and Action2 against groups), FKD just doesn't KD enough it seems. Got charge shot a couple days ago and have tried adding it into the mix to compare but the run forward animation screws w/ my smooth runnin backwards patterns so haven't used it enough to make a good comparison.

I realize confusion can stun and stunned opponents may (rumor...) fall over easier, but underhanded seems to work better than fkd on 4 legged types as well. So far charge seems about the same as underhanded but again, i haven't tested enough to be sure on that.

If you have access to all 3 specials, which do you use to make stuff fall over? Very interested in making use of other's wisdom on this. I posted something similar on the BH boards, will share any useful info here and vice-versa.

thanks!

Everyone seems to have thier own opinion on which is better so really I think there is little/no difference between them. Chargeshot has that lame animation, fireKD has a weak dizzy so when I was BH/CarbineerI used underhand, but really its personal preference.

I use chargeshot2 for all KD occasions...unless I don't want to aggro animals...Fire Kd stinks imo,,,it hits it just doesnt kd or fire very often.

Chargeshot2 seems to be just as effective as 1 on single targets, and is good in pvp too

I think underhandshot is better than fire kd too...

Fire KD isnt supposed to set someone on fire

When I was a BH, I was very partial to Fire Knockdown.

As a regular carbineer, there's actually a variety of KD attacks....Chargeshot 1 + 2 obviously.

Also a good tactic of /applying a dizzy attack, and then hitting the person/NPC with a posture down attack (suppression fire, Action Shot2) to force them down, then they try and stand and fall over...which is fun.

I'm wondering if dizzy will change much in the future though, if so will really change how knockdown works.

Hi,

I can stick Dizzy/Stun on PvE target within few hits with confusionshot. Then I go on to KD. I don't see much difference btw FireKD and Underhand.

I haven't PvPed after turning BH, so I can't tell you anything there.

I can't wait till I get /sprayshot.

chatgeshot2, fullauto area 2 a few times. - good for battles.

confusion, and action2 of leg3 for a high KD def dude.

underhand is useful for rifleman/CM. hit em quick.

anyway, thats what i use as my KD's but everyones style is different. with carbines there is enough room to play and be sucessful with several diff styles.

have fun!!

Maybe I am imagining things, I do have a lively imagination.

But I seem to notice a drastic loss of effectiveness of underhand shot the more you use it/later you use it in a fight. The skill does mention it "catches an enemy by suprise" and the suprise would in theory be lost after using it too much. But like I said maybe I am expecting results like that and thus getting them.

It never set'em on fire in Beta, but I think it used to applya bleed -- I think in the early stage of Beta.

...but I might be mistaken...
