Hello guys,

1 of my toon is about to master CM, now i am trying to pick up another range combat profession that will enhance/help out a group of men hunters. I was thinking of RM, but when i try it with my other toon, I realized that RM is a powerful class, but good for single, not much into all these Dark Jedi hunting/ Killing BH to protect the light Jedi thing my guild doing. So, with CM poioson/disease + area/range heal for my groups, I was thinking of Carbineer. What would be more better for the group then 1 guy laying all the states onto the enemy so the rest would move in and finish that target off. I had been reading the FAQ, and couldn't find any info with the templat Carbineer/CM. Please help me

Now with the template you are proposing your defenses would look like this.

Counterattack +105
Defense Vs. Knockdown +15
Defense Vs. Intimidate +25
Ranged Mitigation +3
Ranged Defense +33
Melee Defense +5
Terrain Negotiation +50 (Yes I include this as a defense! Run away! Run away!)

Your offensive capabilities stack up like this.

Alertness +10
Carbine Accuracy While Moving +30
Carbine Speed +60
Carbine Accuracy +130
Carbine Aiming +25

Now the bad news as you can see it is that your offensive and defensive mods are not all that strong. The good news is with a halfway good guild you should be able to get some SEA’s to boost your defenses against whatever you think is the most important and increase you offensive effectiveness. My suggestions for offense would be to get attachments that increase accuracy and speed for carbine. For defense then focus on those that would increase your resistance to ranged and melee attacks. Also I would invest in decent BE stun resist clothing and try and loot or purchase some attachments that boost your defense versus intimidate. Depending on what you and your guild are hunting you might want to make adjustments here and there.

Now the big plus to carbine has always been that you are a master of states. You can dizzy, stun, blind, and position change your targets depending on their resistance base. Another great thing about carbine is that we have some of the best area attacks in the game to apply these states to a group. So if you and your guild are doing mobs then you can be the person to do some crowd control. You probably mostly applying blind and stuns to targets to decrease their accuracy and rate of attack. These are most effective against creatures in the game. If you are facing humanoid targets you will be laying down some dizzy with a position change to get the flopping fish. You also have a knock down shot but depending on the defense stacking its effectiveness is sketchy. I hope this was of some assistance in helping you to make a decision.

As far as a strictly support class is concerned carbineer is definitely the way to go. There are a few obstacles that you will need to overcome though.

Firstly to use any decent carbine at a decent speed, you will need to get your hands on some speed tapes, it is almost a requirement for us carbineers.

Secondly like was mentioned previously your defences are stellar, which really isn't a problem in a group. Most people underestimate carbineers on the battlefield, use this to you advantage.

Third largest issue i see is your weapon choices, you should get in touch with a WS and special order some weapons, there is a good guide to custom ordering you probably saw in the FAQ. An enhanced E-11 would be a good place to start. They only take one tissue, they have a built in health bleed which will help drain the jedi juice, as well they are fairly fast, AP1, damage spread isn't too bad, when you get them built ask the WS to put a focus on accuracy, not that ours is bad by any means, but the more accuracy the betteryou will be at inflicting states.

On top of Defense vs. Knockdown food (Thakatillo), youmight alsowant to ingest some accuracy food (look intoCrispic or Snow Cake)if you're going to be applying states and posture changes only so that your teammates can take advantage of a "pacified" target.

You basically don't want to miss, and want your states / knockdowns to work whenever you use 'em.
