Well you might want to try a narrower topic than: Carbineers

well, for me i have always liked carbines, they are the best looking weapons in the game, and, i also want to do something diffrent that what most people do

not much really bothers me about carbineer except for the fact at how high the HAM costs are unbuffed, there are other issues that have already been stated also

i just posted the stuff below in another similar post. have a read, i hope i managed to express how much fun i have with carbineer... as to things added/changed well IMHO, most of my issues with my template come from the BH side and apart from anything i really dont know enough specific details about the 'maths' behind swg to feel qualified to comment so i am just writing here about the fun i get from carbineer.

well i would love to be as insightful as the 2 who have contributed to this thread already but i cannot. i have only been playing since march and have been pvp'ing for alot less than that.

fyi, my character is MBH / MC / Pistoleer 0.0.2.0 / Combat Prowess 2.0.0.0

if its pvp you want to get involved in then the above is damn fun but much better when teamed witha highdamage template.

and pve is also quite fun with this template.

it is quite possible, if played well to keep a TKM at arms reach and deal the DB without him touching you at all. This takes alot of running and weapon swapping but this makes it all the more fun. tactics and speed as someone mentioned. although i will add that this is not best tried on a PC prone to lag. any advantage is lost each time you lag.

i am by no means any pvp expert and i dont pretend to be... i just participate and enjoy it ... win or loose..

all i want to add here to this thread is that since i have aquired 85% of the guns i wanted for pvp, i am enjoying it more than ever with this template. a good selection of guns and alot of patience and practise will make carbineer alot of fun. i can certainly recommend it.

as far as the guns go... i have a krayt Laser (AS:2.8, 550 dmg with 32%PU), 2 krayt enhanced e-11's (health bleed dots, one speed sliced and one damage sliced - dmg slice 35% giving 474 i think with 32%PU), DH17 (oldest one i have and now not so heavily used due to the other new guns), Lith Carb (again health bleed dot and 480-ish dmg with 32%PU), 2x Geo's (one for speed and one for damage) and finally a krayt scatter. the bonus with all these guns and the template listed above is i can stack atleast 4 bleeds onto someone while stacking states and altering posture or KD'ing. makes for lots of hectic button pressing but some very satisfying battles. and when the odd victory occurs with not one point of damage being taken you get a very satisfying feeling knowing how little defense we carbineers have.

so my tips, just from experience so far.. sorry cant quote figures and numbers as i dont know enough about swg overall for that but...

1. for pvp it is well worth investing in a nice range of weapons. for example - if you are not doing much damage with a geo pistol the likelyhood is he has a PSG on and switching over to the scatter normally helps.. plus having the range of carbines mean you can save the bleeds once they have stuck and switch to a higher damage gun like the laser.

2. use pve to learn and practise your specials.

and to answer your final question... "What made you guys stick with Carbineer?"

well... the biggest thing is it is fun.

i like the challenge of something that involves abit more skill or tactics...

not just spamming one attack that hits mind.

yeah i'm not gonna win every pvp battle but thats not the point.

it takes no skill to spam one attack...

it does take alot more skill to win at pvp using 8-10 different Carbineer and BH specials and swap between 5 carbines and 3 pistols.

what is fun about just pressing the same button over and over again compared to assessing the correct time and style of attack combined with weapon choice and making the right selection of attacks. i know which i will be sticking with. i have no desire to be the most 'uber' just have the most fun.

hope this helps to give you an more of a descriptive idea about what fun being a carbineer can be.

I initially took up the profession cause of the first scene of ANH on the corvette - in the flim carbs were the bomb lol sadly this game misses that entiriy - once all my RL friends who play the game told me to quit carb but i just couldnt i found it fun sometimes fustration and the never grinded it at all - every1 around me was 2 or 3 mastered professions but i wasnt even master for a whole 6 weeks - trying it out and learning at every level - until master carb i found i was useless in pvp but with random results and numerous deaths i carried on until i did decided to do bh x4xx this gave me enough goodness specials i fine it unthinkable that one day i give it up :S now im gonna grind (yes grind) pistols xx44 just to give me the defences

im happy i sometimes get 5 or 6 deathblows just on my hunts and travels i get alot of abuse after the rebel is brought down and i like it cos i think that know carbs are sh1t but i just did them lol

i still get the beats and getting slaughtered but it makes me wanna try harder, its a challange people lol

its because my will is far greater then the skill

I think the response you are getting is due to the perceived motives that you have. The information that you are interested in discussing is a matter well discussed and familiar with us all. For you it may be thought provoking but for most of us it is a well chewed leather. So to save the bruised feelings, stem the flow of animosity, and understand your point of view I wanted to ask a few questions.

Why do you want to discuss carbines?

What combat classes have you mastered or dabbled in?

Do you mainly PvP or PvE?

i took carbineer because a friend told me carbineers are getting a stun carbine couple of months ago, it was an evil prank that made me grind m.carbineer/BH carbs
after that i found out that it was all a big fat evil joke
so i tried this profession in pve and pvp, i do very good at pvp and even better at pve.
i enjoy thinking about my next move other then clicking on F5 and hoping for the best.

right now i can beat rifleman with some synsteak and a PSG, key thing is to get them dizzy so they cant burstrun and switch to melee, stun and blind aswell then land intimidate, after that try to KD and if you cant KD do supporessionfire2 to get them to knee and go cripple/scatter spam at 0m, they wont hit you alot of times
you can always try legshot3 but i never did myself.

i use a krayt laser sliced for damage, its 2.5 69-479 i think, very nice

Did anyone tell him not to post? No, i believe if you read the posts replying to it, it was made clear that if he had a question to ask it, not start a general blanket discussion on carbineers. As far as contributing goes, i really press anyone to find another player let alone carbineer that has his kind of dedication, a lot of worked on that FAQ for the community, and for people like you to talk trash like that isjust unaccetable in my opinion. If he wanted a discussion he should have posed a question or a subject ...

I alway loved the way carbines looked and how they are the "overall" weapon of the game.
They are the assault rifles of Star Wars, that's why I love them.

After I mastered it, I realised how cool they were in the game. At this time, I was kicking ass in PvP, and the GCW was fought without armor (beside faction armors ) and unbuffed. The state and the area attacks were great at taking several players down at once! We were onced a very honorable profession, friends!

Most of our specials are great, even if some are redundant and others, broken. We have a vast aray of specials we can use in several different occasions. I loved carbineer because we are versatile in a fight.

When I dabbled into bounty hunter for the mods, I fell in love with carbineer, adding to my prior passion a flame of invincibility!

LONG LIVE TO THE CARBINEERS!
