Hi,

I am hoping for this to be a new constructive thread that Nova can use in the possible combat rebalance to our benefit. So here everyone please list the carbine you imagine as being a REASONABLE new carbine. Remember the more realistic we are the better chance we have of it becoming a reality. I recommend not listing stats u forsee w/ Krayt tissues and uber resources but middle of the road. Please keep the flaming to a minimum, trying to help us all out.

This is so far down on the list, lets see how SOE nerfs armor first.....the changes JustG talked about will make any discussion here totally irrelevant.

i would like to see a gun in the shape of the elite carbine.. but held like a pistol.. maybe have some sort of round rod attachment comming off the barrel topside, running from front to the back of the gun... kinda cocked off the barrel to the north east or west.. it would look attached by a bracket from the back and the front sorta like an A pattern being the rod attached to the tip and the bottom of the a wraps around the gun sorta clamped on effect. or maybe you could call that a rod of precision aiming for an attachment of some sort.. i think all the gus should show an attachment when a powerup has been placed... or have relic type stuff that is attachable and colorful.. say a glowing green barrel for a poison dot type or something.. it can be done.

My fave idea I've seen is make Elite Carbines AP3. Now THAT is Elite....I'd use one. No need for a new carb.

I think its VERY likely that the next combat adventure area will have a new carbine and a new fencer weapon in it. However, that could be 2+ months away. Personally I'd like to get an AP1 Cold weapon. Getting an additional damage type would put Carbineer more on par with the other ranged combat proffessions, and giving us a Cold damage weapon wouldn't really cut in on anyone else's turf and "dilute the damage types", as TH would put it.


I know there's a lot of demand for a Stun carbine, but take these points into consideration...



  1. If we do get a new carbine, Stun damage or otherwise, it will probably be a minimum of two months before it happens.

  2. The Combat Rebalance should be happening in about 12 weeks, give or take a few weeks.

  3. Composite Armor is going to get nerfed during theRebalance, and thus Stun damage would be as important in PvP as it is now.

  4. Thus if we did get a Stun carbine, it would only be usefull for about 1 month.

Greetings, I hardly ever post but this subject is important. Any carbineer should understand that we are at our best in groups pvp or pve. As far as guns go Stun is of no use to us. I would like to see a kinetic or cold carbine that equals the Drx6 in damage and speed. It would give us more in the way of being useful in such instances like hunting nightsisters and other high end ventures.


on the side; the nym carbine is a let down, atm there is no reason to have one, not craftable and does not outperform the drx6. Would rather wait till the combat revamp that get another gun of like quality.

I would like to see anything other than Heat , energy, or acid... just give us some more choices.Stun cold kenetic don't care what. Went to the Nyax base and the guys had a 40+ resist to all of 3, and only 10% resist to others.


As for being more specific, I would LOVE to see a cabine with an action poison. I know we already have a carbine with a health poison , but considering carbines have leg shot I think it would be better with action pool being affected. I still go hunting with people who have just marksman 0404 (he's a CM). I know this is in the realm of dreams.. but i thought it would be worth mentioning.


Another Idea is to have a Low damage / low HAM carbine with a really flast speed/ high accuracy something that would allow people with just novice carbine max out on the speed (if experimented on speed). something that allows someone in a group to to put stats on someone to help in combat, this would be forthe people still on the climb up , or the people who are mostly medic or crafter. Give it bonus when giving state changes (i know this part is in dream land also) to make it an actual choice over the laser cabine. this should be available at Marksman 0200. The state change should be for anything but KD, or else it would be to broken. Don't forget high accuracy.


One aspect I like about carbine over other ranged combat classes is the ranges. Laser is ideal at 50M, DXR6 is best at 20M. I would like to see something closer but i know thats the area of pistols. Anything above 50 is the realms of rifle. A carbine with a medium accuracy on all areas (20 m to 50m) would be nice. Because as it is now I start all my combats with laser then need to switch to the DXR6 as the creature gets closer.

1. Fix ham


2. Increase speed mods to +80 or so.


3. Bump up defenses. You shouldn't have to augment (insert profession here) for defense just to be mediocre.


4. Raise elites ap from ap1 to ap2.


5. Give the DH-17 carbine (not the short) ap1. There isn't much difference bettween the carbine and the pistol. And there isn't much of a difference bettween the short carbine and the long version. So give the long AP1 and make a good carbine better.


6. The nym SLUGTHROWER is a SLUGTHROWER. Give it KINETIC damage not ACID.


That pretty much does it for me.

Sounds like a good Top 5, oh wait, that IS our Top 5........or close at least.....
