Thread: Why does SOE have against Carbineers? 30-1 ratio for FS XP

Why is it that SOE seems to hate Carbineers?


In the quest for Force Sensitive Experience, the Carbine XP converts at 30 to 1. That's the worst ratio of any profession.


In my particular case, Carbineer was the first profession my holocron told me to follow. It took forever to get, for me anyway with the amount of time I play. Now, my meelee friends that are TKA, Swordsman and the like are raking up the XP and I am taking FOREVER to gain force xp as a Master Carbineer. Very dishartening, given the time and money I've spent on this game.


Hey Sony, how about "leveling the playing field" and giving Carbineers an even chance? To think that I now have to consider giving up this profession and starting from scratch, again, to build up a new master and only THEN start gaining force xp. Really stinks if you ask me.


I'd like to hear from a Sony Dev as to the logic behind this.

Isn't structure crafting like 40:1 or something absurd like that due to the gungan head grind?

the worst trade ration is 90 to 1 which is squad leader, all combat professions trade in at 30 to 1 and combat exp trades in at 3 to 1 for complete detatils see the fs forum.

Actually Carbineer is GREAT for raking XP in. Go To Sennex Cave. Burst Shot 2. End of Story. a BH carbineer in my guild caps out everybuff seton carbine xp

I have time to cap Carbine XP and Swords XP in one session if i work my ass off.

As far as XP, its fair. Other than that... Look at rifles compared to Carbines. Look at damage types, and skill mods and its just plain not fair.

Mod Rifles - Carbines

Speed +65- +35

Melee Defense+40 - +0

Ranged Defense+70 - +25


Thats a pretty one sided set of numbers... Now look at AP levels and damage Types.


Type Rifle AP - Carbine AP

AcidMedium - Light

EnergyHeavy - Medium

HeatNone - None

ColdWell..... the SG82 doesn't count........

Stun Light - N/A


Thats bad enough..... but look at the PvP capabilities of both classes now, Rifles get a Light AP Stun Damage weapon and the ability to target the Mind Pool. Carbines get either the Elite or DXR-6 depending on your preference and hether they have a PSG, these are both Light AP, but one is energy and one is acid and since Legshot 3 is either broken or just plain sucks compared to Headshot 3, Carbines are tough to use in PvP, and due to Strafeshot 2, Carbines aren't even as good at crowd control as Rifles are. What does SOE have against Carbines? I loved Carbines, but when you have to be a BH / Carbineer to be any good, your defense is really non-existant, so you die very quickly. I recently had to drop Carbines for Rifleman / TKM(I HATE that build with a burning passion, but it works for now)

You forgot the marksman mods, which puts the mods of both professions to:


Mod Rifles - Carbines

Speed +90- +60

Melee Defense+40 - +0

Ranged Defense+72 - +27


That's even worse because rifleman's speedmod is four times better then the carbineer one...


Form my point of view concealshot is an extremely important issue thatoverpowers rifleman, many forget it because nobody gets killed by it in pvp nor outdamaged by it in pve...


Well, of course carbineer has advantages too, but all in all the difference between rifleman and carbineer in the overall game (pve & pvp)is huge.



Check oft the sticky'd post called "Carbineer Issues" or something like this... there you'll find everything you mentioned and even more.

The Combat Upgrade will hopefully fix all serious balance issues.
