I mastered Carbineer along with the BH tree a while back, but never had enough investigation to hunt Jedi. I am curious, has any of you BH/Carbineers had success against Jedi? If so, what was your template?

If you would like some "pie in the sky" carbineer hunting stories make this post on the BH boards![]()
I think there only a few ways to have success against jedi with this template:
1.Catch the jedi when he is unbuffed, almost dead, or out of force points
2.Catch the jedi AFK
3.Only hunt padawans
4.Hunt with a combat medic
5.Uber dot weapons
You will not be able to kill Knights or better on any sort of even footing. You cant resist there damage, they heal everything you throw at them, and they block 85% of your shots. Its not difficult for a jedi to regenerate the damage done to them when they are getting hit once every 20 seconds.

If the Jedi is not Master Saber you canalmost always take them if youdo it right. Once they hit Master Saber, your only chance in hell is a gank squad or a boom bot. If I'm hunting a knight or above the most I can hope for is to land a state/DoT or two, which they can heal immediatly. I'm BH/Carbine myself and trust me, that 85% saber block is disgustingly overpowered vs any pure ranged template.

Hey Achyuta,
You'll find that BH/Carbineer may be more effective against Padawan-level Jedi than say BH/TK or BH/Fencer, if and only if you're able to sport the right equipment (including a high damage Laser Carbine.)
BH 4400 / Master Carbineer allows for some extra skillpoints that can be dumped into Medic or Pistol Tech, or even Novice Brawler. The key is of course being able to inflict the proper states and posture changes on a Padawan to prevent him/her from ever attacking you.
DoT Carbines are also useful since many low-level Jedi cannot heal them. You should have no trouble dizzy/KDing Padawans with BH/Carbineer, however. You can most likely send Uncrow a tell IG.. he's currently an MBH/M.Carbineer and hunts the very same Jedi you have, daily. He's by far the best Ranged Bounty Hunter on Starsider, so you should definitely contact him for any pointers and tips were you to pick up Carbineer.
Most of the other information about our strengths and weakness are covered in the FAQ.

I use a 283-313 (PuP'd) DXR6 carb at the moment, and feel fairly comfortable hitting any jedi 140k and below. Adventures into the 160 barrier yield risky results though.
The template, a deadbolt original I'm sure
Master Marksman
Scout 4/0/0/0
Master Carbineer
Bounty Hunter 3/4/0/0
Medic 0/0/4/0
Pistoleer 0/0/4/0
I'm no uber bugger, but it packs enough punch to cause trouble to low-mid jedi, as has been said though, if they have master saber, go get yourself a gank squad, there's bound the be a few knights around chasing FRS xp....

That's actually the exact template I'd recommend for any Jedi-hunting savvy Carbineers. Pistol Tech 4 adds some crucial defenses and Pharmacology 4 simply speaks for itself.
Actually, Master Carbineer may not even be needed, and a branch could be dropped to pick up Novice Brawler as well, where Intimidate would seriously give you a boost.

Thanks.... I will do that... I just want to have fun and I think my biggest mistake was dropping my all ranged template to get TKM/BH.

You were Rifleman/BH at one point, were you not?
I think I remember you using a T21, anyway.. in that one time we met on Dath when you were chasing Lord'Tan, heh. As far as Ranged professions go.. I think you'd have a lot more luck and fun in terms of Jedi-hunting using Carbineer without a doubt.
Pistoleer actually would be beneficial as well were you able to get a good weapon made.. either profession works beautifully, really. It all boils down to the strength of your weapon and your "skill" as a BH to maximize their use in your favor. Carbineer is simply a natural choice because of Padawan's innate lack of state/posture defenses. Since there's no bias towards the Mind Pool for Jedi, our standard Health/Action specific specials are quite nice.
I know Uncrow opens with a standard SprayShot (in the case of a non-master BH, it would be confusionShot) and follows with a KD (like FireKnockdown) or a Posture-change with SuppressionFire. He then stacks a few DoTs and mops up using CrippleShot and ScatterShot2 from Carbineer, all the while keeping his target stun/dizzy/blinded and hopefully hence dizzy/KDd. Works out pretty darn well, I'd say.
Useless against those that have near-master healing or MLS, but simply beautiful otherwise.

Im currently 3040 BH, Master Carbineer, 0040 Pistols and Pharm 4 medic. So far i've killed 17 jedi ranging from about 40k - 145k and it's some of the best fun i've had in game. Just make sure you are prepared. Synthsteak, Canape Thaktillo and PSG's and Stun armour for those pesky gank squads.

I agree... I have also been studying up on Carbineer. I must say I really think this is gonna be fun. I am going to practice the same techniques Uncrow uses and hopefully I am as successful as he. Thanks again Addy.
