Does anyone know what loot items can be used to enhance crafted carbines and which items are better used to craft particular carbines?

There are quite a few, there is an excellent write-up on crafting carbines with special looted components in the FAQ, as well as almost everything else regarding carbines. Check it out, it will likely answer question you didn't know you had.
