As many of you undoubtedly possess, I have several carbines with excessively high HAM costs. I am wondering how useful these will be post revamp if we see doctor buffs nerfed. There have been ideas mentioned here and there such as "special" bars that will drain as opposed to our HAM bars, still I wonder if certain weapons will not be obsolete after the revamp.
As it is now, if I shoot my stocked & scoped DXR6 without a buff it basically completely drains my health and action. I lost one of my secondary health buffs one time when I was spamming crippleshot and I was amazed to see it draining over 200 health per shot (thats a lot!).
Anyway, I am curious if I shouldnt have a certain type of weapon built before the revamp to prepare for it. Of course I could wait for the revamp and make a move then, but speculation is much more entertaining. Any thoughts?

Speculation/rumors are not entertaining here. Nothing can or will be said on this topic, that has any fact behind it at least.....or it will be "moderated".

That is the typical heavy handed response I have come to expect from this forum irregardless of the topic of discussion.
Imagine the game shattering consequences should we discuss ham cost changes! This space is best utilized discussing uber carbines and how moronic people are that ask for stun damage, my bad.

As far as I can tell, buffs won't be so nerfed that you won't be able to fire those Carbines.
HAM has always been a problem as far as Carbines go.. but with the proper foods, it's really not all that bad. I think I remember them saying (or atleast rumors) about how buffs would be dependant on your migrated points.. or something like that.
While it's still open for change, odds are that "HAM-eater" carbines would drain that oh-so-intriguing "special" bar faster than say non-stocked or HAM-experimented weapons.
As I see it, the CU can't change things so much that the current items become worthless. Attachments and current weapons will still work.. I'm guessing how often you can spam specials with such weapons will be factored into some special-draining formula which accounts for the HAM totals of your weapons.
So in other words, I'm guessing it won't be too bad.. most of the buffs for Strength, Focus and Willpower are overkill as far as specials go (you only need 1400-1500 for there to be no HAM cost right now, most people have this stat up to 2000+ with 2400 buffs and a full set of composite equipped, so even with worse buffs, it won't be as bad.)

So what do you want to discuss? NOTHING can be said or that person shall be kicked out of the Sandbox testing.....
Anybody else speaking is just spreading RUMORS, which is not what this or any Forum is about.
When the time is right, we shall discuss this and 100 other items in the Combat Upgrade. I guess if you don't like that, well that is just tough because that is the way SOE wants it.....and they ARE THE OWNERS here.

as the others said, no body knows yet. but i would think that if the HAM system is changed stuff that has high HAM now will still have high HAM after revamp, jsut working on a different scale
