i'm still a novice carbineer, and was wondering what type is the best power up to use as carbineer.

FYI I don't PVP.

I currently use 30% Action cost and 15% min damage

I know the GRIP power up can get 30% action cost and 15% Health cost. I've been experimaneting and have only got action OR Health on my experiments, Got fed up and used my Action + Min DMG schem in my factory.

What do you guys use, I see everyone talk about Min max dmg and speed power ups.

FYI if i use my power up and breath of heaven, my action bar barely moves each shot. (better than i when i was as a pistoleer)

In my mind, if you set the HAM costs aside, the biggest problem for starting Carbineers are speed and accuracy. So I used Speed powerups when starting out.

Once you hit a certain speed cap, or come close to Master Carbineer, speed and accuracy are no longer really a problem, so that's when you should use a Min/Max powerup or a HAMCost/ Damage powerup.

If you plan on being a Carbineer god and complementing your skill with the BH Carbine line (like I'm trying to do), then Min/Max Damage powerups alone are the best.

It *really* depends on yours style of play though.

Firstly, HAM costs for carbine are horrible, power-ups are not going to be a worthwhile fix. There are 2 popular power-ups.

The first and the type i use are 33% speed and 16% min damage. Speed is a real issue for carbineers, Even at Master we only have +60, which isnt enough to cap some specials unless you have a super fast carbine which most novice's don't. So for starting out the speed boost will help you alot. I ama master and until i decide to pick up the BH Carbine Tree (not very likely) my speed powerups put me in just under the speed cap with my tapes.

The second common type is 33% Max Damage and 16% Min Damage, sure having you weapon damage jump up looks great on paper, even makes for some good screenshots. But unless you have your weapon speed capped, Speed power-ups will do you alot better. After the speed cap however, especially witha decent Laser Carbine, these bad boys will do you wonders.

Here is a nifty site you should check out. It's calculates your DPS, based on your weapon stats and speed skill. And gives you the DPS for all your specials. http://killyourpc.org/swg/swg_dps.php

Also something you should note. It is a good idea to keep both power-ups on hand, usually i dont use specials on lairs, and jus sit there and use normal attacks, and capping out that speed can be done fairly easily so it is a good idea to keep both types of power-ups on hand. Max/Min will usually be better for just attacking things like lairs, or not spamming specials when not buffed. But for specials before the speed cap, Speed/Min are the way to go, at least IMO

I'm not much of a power hog/uber player.. i just want o have fun.

I was able to get a schem made of 30% Action cost reduction &15 health cost reduction, allong with a breath of heaven, then my HAM cost are about 15% of what they used to be.... Well worth it if you just go hunting creatures (i'm a ranger). and my other char is a Chef so the food is free for me. its just breath of heaven has a terrible filling/timer

I agree to go for speed powerups generally if you're not at the speed cap.

I did want to note however, that for PvP situations, I would recommend finding someone to make you 32% min damage - 16% attack speed powerups. They would improve any gun when you consider damage mitigation, but some more than others. For Elite carbines, they are exceptionally effective.... I have been able to reduce the damage spreadtoaround 60 points on the one I use with a powerup. That means that I'm only losing 30 max damage to someone with mitigation 3... which is made up for with the improved speed as well.

Just a suggestion.
