i need some info from you guys, mostly the pros/cons of carbineer/TKM. I've got all the other combos down, but i haven't done TKA yet, you can PM it to me or just post it here.

my secondary char is a Master TKA, Master Marksmen and is currently working on Carbineer. im only 1212 in carbineer as i just started it a couple of days ago, but so far its a pretty decent combination. not sure how it will do in pvp but tka and carbineer are my two favorite professions so either way im going to have fun.

I was a TKM when I started to level up Carbineer the first time. I never really got to PvP with that combo, but one con I can forsee would be the lack of stun damage. Allmost everyone these days has a suit of compostite armor, and a majority of those suits are vulnerable to one thing... stun damage. The biggest drawback to the TKA profession is that they can only do kinetic damage.


I can however, see the TKA's raw damage be a force to reckon with. Kiting a TKA/Carbineer won't work, as they can knock you down and dizzy you at range, then close the gap and pummel you to death, all with the ability to keep you down and dizzy.


If I were to choose a combo other than Carbineer/Fencer, it would probably be Carbineer/TKM.

I also think it is a good combo, that will get better with time. I mean come on your mixing a Ranged crowd control god with the offensive king, what's not to love? Really though, you have 90% of what you'll ever need from TKM, adding Carbineer just gives you a ranged KD/Dizzy/Stun to take down kiters and a few different damage types and AP 2 weapons. FOr all the other TKMs out the, you know how hard it is to kill a buffed/composite enemy. Or even worse 100% Kinetic resist mobs.

I used to be a master carbineer/TKM but I dropped TKM and went masterheavy swordsman instead. I didn't like TKM because almost everyone had more kinetic resists than, say, blast, and also because the lowest HAM bar is in general the mindbar, which swordsman can damage much better than TKM's. Nowadays the mindbar is much higher than it used to be thoughand I've seen an increase in the 80 % blast resist armors too, so I guess swordsman isn't as good anymore.


Also once you've had the meditation line you don't want to every drop it, so that's one point for the TKA hehe


I think the two professions are pretty even, both in PvP and PvE actually, so if you have time over you might want try TKM out to get your own perception of it, but I don't think it'll be much "better".

If counterattack is ever worth anything and if any future caps are higher than Master Carbineer, you may want to consider heavy swordsman over TKA because you would be getting counterattack from both lines. I think those are some big ifs, though.

I'm Master TKA and3-3-0-4 Carbineer and I would find it really difficult to give up the meditate line of TKA.

I'm currently TKM and working on carbineer and fencer. Why fencer too? For the defenses. Carbineer has the worst defenses out of the ranged, and Teras Kasi the worst out of melee. Barely any dizzy defense, not much KD defense. I can take a lot of damage, sure, but get dizzy/KD very easily. With the fencer defense lines, I can also use a stun baton and hit fairly well if I need to.

I'm a master carbineer / master fencer and 4,0,0,4 in TKA. Its nota bad combo but I rarely kill anyone with my carbine out. I simply do more damage with my stun baton as composite is naturally weak to stun.


However if I go against anyone with full set of stun armor I find myself a little lacking, the light armor + stun resist kills my baton.


I really need some nice carbine speed skill tapes and I should be a LOT better.


But its very nice to have the ranged knockdown, stun and dizzy as a fencer. Good vs all those kiters.


In the end I still die eventually to rifles and mind poison

I'm a TK masterand currently training carbineer ( 2/2/3/4 ).
In PvE ( or faction missions )I like this combo, with the TKA skills I am pretty self suffisent, I can buff and heal myself and engage the target in melee when it starts to become difficulte with the carbine. Powerboost with food and drink allow me to use the carbine special without too much trouble.
In PvP the template is maybe notthe best but offer the choice to either fight in melee or from range, on a side note the carbine area of effect shots seems very nice against player crowd ( posture change, KD, stun, blind etc ).
